what makes it different

most drum pads
look the same.
drumbeam doesn’t.

Almost every MIDI pad on the market is a grid of square pads with a screen in the middle. drumbeam is a 54 cm aluminum bar with a silicone surface, 72 RGB LEDs and sensors that read where your stick lands, and how hard.

No screen. No menu. Just zones you designed, lit up exactly where you put them.

“A well-made, highly configurable performance tool that offers a different slant on the ‘percussion pad’ concept.”

— Sound on Sound, February 2026

“I no longer use a pad at all — the drumbeam offers much more possibilities and flexibility as a controller.”

the questions
everyone asks.

Straight answers, no fine print. More detail on the product page and in support.

does drumbeam make sounds on its own?

No, and that’s deliberate. drumbeam is a MIDI controller: it plays the sounds you already trust. Connect it to Ableton, Logic or any DAW via USB-C, or to a hardware drum module or sampler via the included TRS MIDI cable. No internal sound engine means lighter, more flexible, and your sounds stay yours.

do I need a laptop on stage?

For configuration, never: your presets live on the device. For sound, it depends on your setup: if you run Ableton for samples and backing tracks anyway, drumbeam plugs into that. If you want zero computers, connect it via TRS MIDI to a hardware module and play completely standalone.

will it work with my DAW and my gear?

Yes. drumbeam is class-compliant USB MIDI, so it shows up like any standard controller in Ableton, Logic, Maschine, Bitwig and anything else that speaks MIDI. No drivers, no installation. TRS MIDI in/out connects it to hardware, or chains it after your SPD.

will I actually hit the right zones?

The LED strip shows you exactly where every zone begins and ends, so you always know where you are without looking at a screen. Many setups use 4–8 zones, and reviewers consistently report that even 12 is playable with practice.

what’s in the box?

drumbeam, the multi-mount (cymbal stands, boom arms, tabletop; 11/13 mm clamp + M8 thread), a USB-C cable, a TRS-to-DIN MIDI cable, hex key and wrench, and a quickstart guide. 2-year statutory warranty on every unit.
