I would like you all to know that right now, as we speak, I am on my way to Legoland. The bravery it has taken me to simply type that sentence is beyond anything I could have prepared myself for as a parent. The heroism for a gal like me to actually go is, in a word, unprecedented.

I can only assume I will return home with screwworm, the headline-grabbing parasitic fly that burrows into open wounds and feeds on flesh, and which has already grabbed a very comfortable seat at the top of my mind. Legoland aside, obviously screwworm will be next week’s subject, along with my other new favorite cocktail party conversation starter, sepsis. (Spoiler alert: all roads lead to sepsis.)

We have told several friends that we are taking our kids to Legoland and each response has been a version of “Oh wow.” It’s not like I expected a response like “Fun! It’s so clean there!” or “All of your choices make great sense!” but the tone of “Oh wow” has shaken me to my core.

My children are chanting “Legoland! Legoland!” so I must go now. I may not be wearing a cape, but I genuinely wish I had a tarp.

While I’m out, perhaps you want to see Wooby & Fotty’s newest read along, “Dear Little Cancer.” An apt title as we talk about the health concerns I experience on a regular basis.

Love,

Lauren
