I love the USA

So happy belated 250th birthday USA. I have to let you know that I was very excited because I had scheduled a post for the first time for July 4 and it went off without a hitch. Listen, it was only a video recitation of the Declaration of Independence from Colonial Williamsburg. No commentary on my part or from anyone else. The words speak for themselves. I think people are intelligent enough to figure out what the words say without some one else pontificating.

Ok our new anti-semitic, anti-American, nepo baby, incompetent, commie mayor of NYC might need them explained since he obviously has no idea what any of the words in the Declaration of Independence means judging by the tenure and words of his “I hate the USA” pre Independence day speech, and he without a doubt needs someone to explain to him how to sit at a desk. Apparently he sat on the wrong side of George Washington’s desk, but then this would be par for the course of the man who in order to balance the budget decided to mess with people’s pensions and get a waiver so he would not have to lower public school classroom sizes.

Apparently, nothing says power to the people like fucking with what is important to the working class like the money they earned for their retirement, or their children’s education. Oh and let’s not forget his America-hating better half who jetted off to some Islamist retreat in the med, instead of celebrating July 4th with the people of NYC. And yet you have democratic pundits like Donna Brazile lauding him as some kind of economic genius and politician. Its really pathetic. Donna is so much smarter than that. The DNC must be running scared at this point that the DSA is showing such strength in the primaries if they have one of their better known mouth pieces laud that commie imbecile as some kind of economic genius. Well I hope they run themselves ragged asskissing these Islamo-nazi ignorant children, and then I hope the DNC completely implodes.

Trump, meanwhile, [love him or hate him] has already thrown down the gauntlet and has told everyone what the upcoming midterms is truly about. America versus the Commies. And he is not wrong. (already the repulsive democratic political talking heads are screaming “Red Scare”…but the red scare was about nonexistent communists in the country trying to take over. We have actual self avowed communists trying to destroy our country from within our democratic system by being elected into that system) Let’s just hope that people are paying attention and really care about this country instead of being a bunch of entitled brats. Judging by the size of the outpouring of American’s love of country over the weekend I give the People quit alot of props.

Funny little aside, in a not so funny way. I had a discussion, well not really a discussion, more like a teachable moment, with some rando on the notes section when it came to economics. Apparently, he thinks that the billionaires and trillionaire (yes singular) are hoarding money. I had to explain to this otherwise intellectually challenged individual, that life is not a Disney movie with Scrooge McDuck hiding his money in a vault marked with a big dollar sign. That money is working in their companies as capital used to produce and create and provide. That money employs hundreds of thousands of people. The same with what happens to people IRAs, pensions and school funds. They invest in the stock market. That money goes back into the companies to be used to fund development of the companies. That is how an economy works. And being that this is the US he is welcome to start a company and work his ass off as well. No one is going to stop him.

Then of course, he said we apparently are not a free country because there are ICE detention centers. (an earlier person in the thread said we are not a free country because of all the incarcerated people) I had to explain to him this thing called laws. Where if you violate the law you go to this thing called jail or prison. That countries have a right to have immigration policies, much like they a right to have laws about rape, murder, theft, and assault. If you do not follow the immigration laws, and are here illegally you run the risk of an ICE agent grabbing your ass and putting you in a detention center/prison. That is the chance you take. I kind of figured this person was also an open borders kind of moron. (I also challenged the anti-incarceral person to take into her home a former, rapist, murderer, or someone who had been jailed for grievous bodily assault, so as to give them a chance at a new life if they were so against putting people in prison. Blocked her stupid ass too. Yes, I use that block button often and happily.)

Oh his next thing, was that apparently we do not have the strongest military in the world, because Iran was not obliterated off the face of the earth. I had to explain to this Neanderthal, that Iran no longer has an army, a navy, a ballistic missile program or a nuclear program because of the US military. And that interestingly enough our military is run by the elected civilian government. So when the civilians, aka the President, says to stop smashing things, the military has to stop. It’s why there will not be a military coup in the US, unlike in the countries he apparently thinks is so much better than the US.

I told this child that he needs to read a basic economic book, constitutional law book about how the US is run, and understand different military strategies. I then blocked him for being an imbecile. (And yes I told him I was blocking him for being an imbecile).

Now whether this individual was a real person, who according to his bio and 5 readers, lives in the northwest of our country (which would make sense since they do seem to have an overabundance of educationally challenged persons with some very important sounding Phds in those parts) or he was part of an Iranian or Chinese troll farm. I made it abundantly clear to anyone who read that thread that I do not suffer fools. And maybe they learned something.

Meanwhile, I spent the day yesterday doing what I normally do on Independence Day, rewatching the “Independence” episode of John Adams and the entirety of Hamilton (well not the parts where his son dies, or where he has an affair, but the parts about the country). I then found myself bawling my eyes out.

I have to tell you, I love this country and what it stands for so much. The words of the Declaration of independence and the US Constitution are seared into my soul.

I know I write alot about Israel and the Jewish People, some of you might not think that the US means all that much to me. But I think we can have many sides to who we are. Especially, when a part of who you are is under attack to the point that your future is threatened and your children’s lives are at stake.

Listen, I still remember this 7th grade girl (me) reading her US history book and in there was a little blurb about this Jewish American, Chaim Solomon, who helped fund the Revolutionary War. (I can even see the page with the blurb on it to this day. I can see my classroom in Flint, Michigan). I cannot tell you the pride that swelled in my heart when I read that. I was one of maybe 4 Jewish children in that middle school. I even had a music teacher who was a Holocaust denier and told us frequently how the Holocaust did not happen because when he was in Germany the people were really nice. So when I read that tiny little passage, (the little girl, me, who had been separated out of her class when she was in third grade by the teachers in elementary school in Memphis, Tenn, because she did not celebrate Christmas), I finally felt that I belonged here somehow. That I was meant to be an American.

So when I watched these shows which usually brings me joy and comfort, and this time though they shook me to my core. Everything that I am and everything that I hope to hand to my children are being taken from them, and I see no way to stop it. Who is actually going to stand up to these bottom feeders who seem to think that the answer to the fact that they are losers is genocide against the Jews?

Who is going to tell these people who chant for a “Free Palestine” at Bernie rallies that they are today’s nazis? Not the DNC. And these average Americans are not about to listen to republicans because they are so steeped in partisanship and TDS, that they cannot see where their own animus is taking them. Creating an enemy is the first step of authoritarians and despots. That is how they take control. It is not a pretty road that the Jew-haters are leading this country down. But one that ends in tyranny, destruction, and the loss of everything we in the United States holds dear.

When Benjamin Franklin was asked what kind of government had the Constitutional Convention given the country, he replied “a republic, if you can keep it.” I honestly think that republic is in danger. And not by Trump. Trump is contained by the courts. If Congress will not do its job as a separate branch of government, then the courts will. As it should be. But we are threatened by those who want to regain or take power so badly they don’t care if they make a deal with the devil who are America-haters and Islamists.

Well, I watch what happens in the news and the pundits who laude the Mamdani’s of the world, who go easy on those who espouse Jew-hatred, the artistic community and academics who think its cool to blame everything on a secret Jewish cabal. I find it interesting that medical schools seem to embrace woke Jew-hatred. The Psychiatric professional organizations are under scrutiny for their “decolonizing the zionist mind therapy,” and list of zionist therapists. The NEA is under scrutiny for their Palestine teach -ins which somehow forgets Jewish history or October 7 (they had one here in NYC). It is so fraught that a nurse in Arizona created pins telling Jewish people they are safe with this medical provider. WTF America!

When we were first married, and neither of us had any jobs we felt had a future, I convinced my husband to go talk to a shaliach (representative of the Jewish Agency) about making aliyah (moving to Israel.) Now you need to remember that I call my husband a born-again Jew. He was raised with celebrating Christmas (I think christmas was their big family holiday) and had no real attachment to his Jewish heritage. Oh he had had a bar mitzah, but he couldn’t tell you the first thing about it.

But then he met me, and slowly was happy to give my ideas a chance. (In fact, his big claim to Jewish fame is that he got a 92 on the Holocaust class final and I only got a 91. 46 years later and he still throws that in my face.) Well once the shaliach told him if we moved to Israel, he could forget about being a lawyer because the language is too difficult for a new Hebrew speaker, and them’s all she wrote. All he ever wanted to be was a lawyer. We never spoke of moving to Israel again, until last year. That is when we had that discussion about how many years Jews in the US have left- he said 20, I said 10 if we are lucky.

I remember having a discussion with my college roommate and her husband over 4 decades ago about how a holocaust is going to come to the US. I gave it 3 generations. So they laughed and said, “so why leave now?” And if you think that every generation is considered 20 years, we are right on my schedule.

But, let’s see what happens with the American people. Are they still the independent, self reliant rugged individuals that made this country great, or has the average person become an entitled spoiled do-nothing that thinks they should be handed everything on a silver platter simply by virtue of their existence?

The America we saw over the weekend was the one where hope springs eternal. You work hard, you love your country, and you are damned if anyone gets in your way. It is the country where dreams can come true if you work hard enough and are smart enough. The freedom to be anything you want to be on your own terms is the hallmark of the American experience. It’s why we love the cowboy, the superhero, the astronaut, and the gold medal winner. You strive. You do. You become. You pick yourself up by your bootstraps and every time you get knocked down, you get up again. You earn your accolades.

For here in the United States of America, it is the inalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Rights endowed by our creator. Not by the whims of any pathetic mere mortal human being. We, who are made in the image of almighty God, are entitled to epitomize God herself, by being a free people. By being able to wield free will. It allows us to determine our own paths, shape our lives, and choose liberty. It is not an easy path. There are pitfalls and tribulations. And no we are not promised ultimate success. But what America promises us is our God given right to try.

I love this country and will damn to hell those people who make it so untenable for Jews to remain here. America is supposed to be better than that.
