I. THE SILENCE OF THE GAZE

You look at me without saying anything.
Moments that become presence,
I can feel them.
I sense
your eyes
resting on me,
and you
remain silent.
Your words
you keep to yourself.
You have bound them,
you do not let them out,
as though you feared they might say too much.
Your gaze nourishes me,
awakening the desire
to embrace your breath,
to feel what remains unspoken between us.
So tell me:
with the way you look at me,
you let surface what you long to say,
letting it tremble in the silence.
Perhaps there is something
you would like to tell me,
something that still cannot find
the courage to come into the light.
II. THE WEIGHT OF UNSPOKEN WORDS

Your eyes speak to me,
giving voice to your words;
the words you hold back
make me suffer,
they leave me suspended
like a thought that does not dare to fall.
How many times have I fallen from those eyes
that revealed what you felt,
while I never noticed,
hiding inside my own silent silence,
yet you always found your way back to me...
without saying a word.
III. REACHING THE HEART

I wish I could hold you close
to reach your heart.
Let me reach you.
Take care of my tenderness.
Let my embrace bring you peace,
as though my own silence could finally speak to you.
Please, tell me.
If you do not want to,
or if you simply cannot reveal yourself,
it doesn't matter.
I will listen to your silence.
Your smile
will dissolve the waiting,
will reveal without fear
our love,
and everything that had remained unspoken
will finally find its place,
without my searching
for any more unnecessary words.
Author's Note
There are moments when words no longer carry the deepest part of what we feel. They remain inside us—not because we wish to hide them, but because they have not yet found the place where they can be spoken without fear.
I have often wondered whether silence is always an absence. Perhaps it is not. Sometimes silence becomes another way of listening, another way of waiting, another way of loving.
This poem was born from that thought. It is not about what remains unsaid, but about everything that can still be understood when two people choose to remain present to one another. There are silences that separate us, and there are silences that slowly bring us closer.
Perhaps the deepest words are not always the ones we speak, but the ones another heart learns to recognize... without saying a word.
