Dawn gives its beginning: first moments of light open the gates of the sky. The sun radiates its first glow, light of a new day illuminates my thoughts. The clouds do not cover the meaning of my simple words. I am surprised by wonder, and from there my voice opens. A prelude to meditation, it brings me back, present, into my inner world. I wonder how the sky might be touched with my hands. Just a little, without going beyond my limits, only to understand, no more than a dream. It is a trick of the mind: I let myself be carried away by the desire to know. It is not strange. Where does it find its hold… the impossible, the improbable, within my desire to desire. I would not want to move away from this dream. The idea of a thought of mine remains in the shadow of a mystery: what is there beyond the sky… Hands raised toward the sky cry out hopes, let them escape.

Go, run, come out into the open: the higher you fly, the stronger the voice will become. The trust of your faith, a promise that finds rest, an expectation you never hoped to have. Becoming aware… you were prepared to wait, you took your time. The love of your belief has found the traces of the Spirit of God. From earth toward the sky, in the hands of man, reveals its life; toward an open road, embraces its destiny. The endless story of an inspiration remains in the shadow of a mystery: what is there beyond the sky… Author’s Note Sometimes a question begins with something very simple: looking at the sky and wondering what might exist beyond what our hands can reach. This poem was born there, between the desire to know and the limits we cannot cross. The mind goes farther, hope follows, and faith enters quietly: not to give an answer, but to leave its traces along the way. Perhaps some questions are not meant to disappear. We carry them with us, from earth toward the sky, allowing mystery to remain mystery. — Antonio Castellaneta
