Sometimes, writing takes you to unknown places, and that’s what happened with my recently published essay on Dionysus. Ever since I read Sophie Strand’s book The Flowering Wand, I’ve been fascinated with her suggestion that Dionysus could be a model for a new kind of masculinity. So as writers are wont to do, I wrote an essay exploring that idea. It was just published in Inroads: A Journal of the Male Soul. Here is the link.
Spoiler alert: I think Strand was right, even though she doesn’t really open and explore the question herself. Dionysus is the key to connecting men with their inner feminine. Women have found this essay insightful. I hope you do too.
