Why was the One Ring so important to Sauron? Here’s an IT perspective. Sauron moved all of his files (himself, basically) onto a thumb drive without a backup and then he lost it. An end user, Gollum, found it and tried to use it but it corrupted the end user’s system. The help desk, Bilbo, spotted the corrupted thumb drive and secured it to prevent further issues. Eventually it was turned over to the cybersecurity team, Frodo, and they destroyed it.
