45" x 34" oil on paper attached to a canvas stretched over a hard-board frame; 1st of five; signed, dated and numbered on back; note: after fifth casting, I will break the mold; each instance of this work will increase approx. 10% of previous price (usually about $500).
FOR SALE ON ETSY: Eden, Study No 1, The Tree of Life Mortal
This work was sculpted in clay. After a mold taken in plaster, two layers of 100% cotton linters were laid and pressed into the mold. After ten days of drying, the paper was pulled from the mold and let dry for another 3 days. A wood frame was constructed and heavy duck cotton was stretched over the wooden frame, then the paper sculpture was attached to the prepared canvas with acrylic gel. Two layers of thinned gesso were applied to the paper and after several days of drying, painted in oils. (I prefer walnut oil as it is one of the least yellowing of all artists' oils and for its durable semi-gloss, enamel-like surface qualities).
