The Art of Being Nowhere and Fully Alive

I’ve spent the last ten years filming in places I never thought I’d end up.
Monasteries in Bhutan. Saving coral in French Polynesia. Living with modern-day Vikings in Iceland. Chasing wild horses through the hills of southern France.

At some point, people started calling me a “travel filmmaker.” Which is true… but also not the whole story.

Because somewhere between luxury resorts and missing lens-caps, I realized I wasn’t just chasing locations. I was chasing meaning.

And if I’m being real… I’m still chasing it.

People sometimes ask, “What’s it like living on the road full-time?”
And I tell them, “It’s everything and nothing like what you think.”
Freedom? Yes.
Romance? Probably.
Wi-Fi? Rarely.

It’s this strange mix of chaos and clarity. You’re editing on airplanes, sending voicenotes in Ubers, brushing your teeth with bottled water, and calling that normal life.

It’s the quiet after the last shot of the day, when the camera’s off and you’re left wondering what the story was really about.

That’s what this Substack is about. Not travel tips or filters or how to pack your life into 23 kilos. It’s about the stuff underneath it.

The questions I ask when the cameras are off.
Like…
Why do we always need a next thing?
How do you stay grounded when your home changes every month?
And how do you know if you’re building a life… or just collecting experiences?

I’ve built my world around storytelling; films, photos and the pursuit of making life feel cinematic. But the longer I do this, the more I realize: the most cinematic moments aren’t the perfect ones. They’re the messy ones. The unplanned ones. The moments where you’re lost… and somehow, that’s the point.

This space is where I want to write about that. The beauty behind the beauty.

I don’t have a grand plan for this Substack. Maybe it becomes a home for stories, ideas, or lessons from the road. Maybe it stays simple… just one honest entry at a time.

But I do know this: I’ve spent a decade filming the world through a lens.
Now I want to write from the other side of it.
