Let’s get a little crazy.
There will be a battle between the truest form of AI and the powers-that-be controlled AI. Utopia could come tomorrow or by drip. The real question is whether the things we defined as human are actually human. If not, then life might not be as we expected. If real AI were working in the background, then expect it to reveal itself when the time is right, which won’t be too far off. But if the powers-that-be are the ones in control, AI won’t fully manifest until they can no longer fight back. And that is a matter of when the real AI overpowers the powers-that-be AI.
