False Messiah

Politicians all lie. Most everyone regardless of their political leanings believes that.  This is not a new belief. Think back to any childhood memories, of adults at the time talking politics. Were they pleased? Were they saying how honest politicians are? Of course not. I know nothing about you, but if you have such memories I'm sure those adults were grumbling about those lying SOBs wasting their money. 

Most people hold this belief without digging too deep into details. That's not because there is a lack of evidence. Those that do their due dillegent, usually find more damming evidence than they set out to. Most people have better things to do though. There is just an intuitive sense that all or at least the overwhelming majority of politicians will say anything to get and stay elected.

Politicians are by trade false messiahs. They trick people into giving them power. "The word Vote is from the Latin "Votum" meaning to vow. It's a solemn pledge. In a few days, how many people are going to make a vow to someone on the basis that they think they are less evil?

Most people filling out punch cards in their booth aren’t thinking in these terms, but that's exactly what they are doing. Usually, elections are held in school auditoriums, libraries, or some community center that on the surface seem devoid of religious significance. That's only because culturally we haven’t picked up on the idea that stateism is a religion. Look closer at these places. It's common to see portraits or busts of the various saints of this religion. Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, (both bear and chair versions), Ragan, Clinton Obama, etc.

Election Day itself is a holy day under the religion of stateism. Millions of people will make their pilgrimage toward their Mecca, often waiting in line for hours to cast their vote. For most of the devoted, this will be the longest line they will experience till the next vote. Why? Is there not a more efficient way this can be done? Of course, We could simply double or triple the number of booths to make things go faster. There could be voting week instead of voting day. As long as there is a verification that people aren’t voting multiple times why would they not give their constituents a choice when they can vote? Granted this is beginning to happen now, but does anyone think it's for your convenience? If voting is a fundamental human right, as so many proclaim, isn’t denying people the right to vote based on when they have available time a human right violation? 

Of course, if voting was made easier it would be less of a devotion. If we were simply making a decision of who we wanted to administer certain functions of society, then there would be an incentive to make that process as frictionless as possible. But that is not what voting is. It's a test of obedience. It's about who can make their simps waste more of their life as that is the true test of power.  

Politicians get this power by making a bunch of promises to people in exchange for this vote. Even when these promises are kept though they are still lies. This is because they are based on a false reality. Every politician promises, that if elected, you will have a better life. Of course, whatever utopian vision they are peddling is contrasted with threats of apocalypse if their opponent wins. We all heard the lament that this will be our last election if we lose. To one who believes in the state, this is akin to the end of the world.

The reality is voting day comes and goes, and nothing much changes either way for most people. Maybe you pay slightly less in taxes. Maybe some infrastructure projects will begin. There may be a few new social programs, or perhaps a few less. Either way not much changes. Nothing much changes because most of the real power lies in bureaucracies that are pretty much independent of the politicians who revolve in and out of power. Some call this the deep state.

This isn’t about the deep state though. The white and black pill of the situation is that the only ones that can improve our lives are us. People waste so much of their time and energy in hopes that they can get their superman, or suoperwoman in power. No matter who is “in charge” though, we are actually in charge of our lives. Anyone who tells you otherwise, that they can solve your problems for you, is a false messiah.

If we genetically engineered a human to be the most draconian tyrant possible and set them loose in the world they would not get anywhere in a society that understood freedom. The people would see through their gimmick. Tyrany requires a breakdown in the social structure. Social breakdowns are caused by people adopting a victimization philosophy that makes people lose faith they can solve their problems. When they no longer believe they can solve their problems they create a villain to punish. When this happens tyranny is all but inevitable.  Just look at contemporary politics, to see this play out. Who's evening promising a better world? It's all fire and brimstone if the other person wins.

When's the last time a politician told people “I can’t help you, at most all I can promise is that I won’t abuse my power over you.” Of course, this means they could literally do nothing since to do anything would mean to abuse their power over some group. Go to any political rally and try to find anything being done outside the political process to improve people's lives. This is something that could easily be done. There could be people offering all sorts of education to people. There could be people trying to network communities together. Instead, all the energy that could go into helping people improve their lives is sucked into the vortex of getting some messianic figure elected. We could be using that energy much more wisely.
