Bringing The Fatherhood Effect To Your Church, School, Non-Profit

For nearly three decades, I have returned to the same questions in different forms:

What happens to a society when fathers do not attach to their children? What happens when fathers do not create a context of joy in their homes with their children?

For the past five years, I’ve been speaking at churches, Christian schools, and men’s conferences on the importance of fathers. Again and again, the same pattern has surfaced: fathers have no idea how important they are, and many churches do not have a culture of equipping, training, and encouraging fathers to be the best fathers they can possibly be.

In a “hold my beer” moment, I put together a book that compiles the best data I could find from around the world on what happens when fathers do not securely attach to their children. The data is truly fascinating and blows people away. What is so encouraging to me is that the data is so practical that fathers are able to go home and make immediate changes where needed.

I received a generous grant to bring this content to your church, school, or non-profit. I can come speak at your church or Christian school. My speaking fee, airfare, and hotel are already covered.

In the U.S., approximately 40 percent of children are born to single mothers. In the African American community, that number jumps to 70 percent. But even when a father is physically present in a household, that doesn’t mean he is engaged with his children or leading his family. In our dad-deprived culture, there has been an increase in juvenile delinquency, depression, anxiety, abuse, trauma, incarceration, infant mortality, risky sexual behavior among teens, poverty, and substance abuse. Fathers who are present and involved in the lives of their families are vital to the health and wholeness of not just their own children but our society at large.

In The Fatherhood Effect, Dr. Anthony B. Bradley explains the indispensable roles fathers play as foundational pillars in both their families and their communities. He unflinchingly exposes the disastrous results when fathers are absent or disengaged. Crucially, he offers practical strategies to turn the tide of dad deprivation, advocating for structural and institutional support to empower fathers and father figures to joyously fulfill their essential role in creating a thriving society through healthy and whole families.

In the book, I use peer-reviewed research and public data, but I also draw from literature, film, and music because statistics reveal patterns while stories expose mechanisms.

The overall point of the book is simply this: we cannot build a thriving church and a free and virtuous society while quietly accepting the erosion of the role of fathers.

One of my hopes for The Fatherhood Effect is that it will become a movement, not just a book. I want to help institutions equip fathers to be the best fathers they can be. I want to start a movement that helps fathers build better relationships with their wives and children.

I’m grateful to have received generous grant support specifically for promoting the book and advancing this movement. One of the things this support will allow me to do is speak at churches, Christian schools, and nonprofits across the country about the importance of fathers in the formation of children and communities.

What this means is that my speaking fees, travel, and lodging will be covered by the grant through June 2027.
