Sometimes God’s Love

Sometimes God’s love assaults our senses. Other times God’s love tickles them.

Sometimes God’s love explodes like the sound of youthful laughter spinning and rejoicing on a recess playground. Other times His love whispers soft and low like a baby breathing as it rests sleepily on your shoulder.

Sometimes God’s love blinds us like the mighty eagle who sails the clouds or the sun that flushes its setting with pigment. Other times His love strains our eyes like the ladybug who crawls on the petal of a marigold or the lace of Queen Anne.

Sometimes God’s love dissolves our tongue with double fudge sundaes or consumes our taste buds with Gramma’s Sunday supper. Other times His love teases us with the first sip of caffeine at daybreak.

Sometimes God’s love smothers us with perfume or aftershave greetings from a lover whose presence we’ve been missing dearly. Other times His love swaddles us as we rest upon clean sheets fresh from the dryer.

Sometimes God’s love corners us in a crowd of well-wishers who greet us with congratulatory hugs and handshakes. Other times His love massages our aching muscles with bubble bath or soothes our sun-drenched skin with aloe.

Sometimes God’s love crushes us in a stampede of senses. Other times God’s love awaits our silence.
