Nature of Convergence
by
In a geometric pool of
turquoise light
you are
submerged
your glistening
shoulders bathe
in a stream
of golden hair,
face upturned
My camera doesn’t work and
I must accept the
ephemeral nature
of convergence:
the position of the sun,
your posture,
my focal point
I tell you you’re safe with me and
you tell me
whatever you want
as we lie on our backs
and gaze at
ceiling shapes
our limbs drape,
blanket each other
like kittens
I ask Do you want to
start a band?
and
You say
Abso-fucking-lutely not
not ever,
ever after
through the tears
of our shared laughterArtist’s Statement

When I read Annie‘s beautiful poem for the first time, I instantly felt some kind of smoothness in it. Emotions and words floating in a soft stream. Some kind of wideness I wanted to mirror with and in the image.
A quiet lake and smooth branches, acceptance of what is. The moon and its turquoise reflection in the fathomless water.
I try to capture the lush feeling of being safe with somebody else, of being allowed to be yourself and being loved for exactly who you are.
I hope you can feel the calmness and beauty I felt in Annie’s poem in my image as well.
