In our conversation today on That Sounds Fun, we’re unpacking a new spiritual rhythm, confession.

In our conversation today on That Sounds Fun, we’re unpacking a new spiritual rhythm, confession. Pastor Aaron Graham helps us rethink confession…not as something heavy or shame-filled, but as an invitation back into closeness with God. Today, we’re talking specifically about what it looks like to confess to God and next week, Pastor Matt Chandler is joining us to talk about what it looks like to confess to others. Both are essential pieces of our spiritual growth.

There’s a Practice Guide for Confession available for you to download at the bottom of this post!

This conversation went so differently than I expected.

I guess what I mean is I didn’t plan to feel convicted by this episode with Aaron, or better said, maybe I planned to be convicted in a predictable way.

I expected Pastor Aaron to talk to us about how to talk to God about our sin.

I expected him to give us language and tools for reconnecting with God after we’ve made mistakes we regret.

I expected him to walk through the steps of reconciling with God.

I planned to walk away and think, “Yeah, I should probably use more of my morning time to reflect and confess sin.”

(Reader: That’s not incorrect, I probably should.)

But instead, in a million important ways, he taught me what a more mature, more focused, more honest confession to God looks like.

As you hear in the episode, it’s about agreeing with God.

But that opens a really deep canyon for me.
