A 35-year high in measles cases

It doesn’t take being a pediatrician to know that something has gone very wrong when a disease we eliminated 26 years ago is roaring back through our kids’ schools.

This year, the United States hit a 35-year high in measles cases and the second record-breaking year in a row. There have been more cases in the last 18 months than in the previous 25 years combined.

And here’s the part that hits closest to home: South Carolina has reported more measles cases in 2026 than any other state in the country.

As a pediatrician, let me be clear about something too many people in power right now won’t say: vaccines are safe, they’re effective, and they save lives. What’s happening right now is a public health failure by the Trump administration, and an avoidable one.

That’s exactly why I’m running for the U.S. Senate. Because there needs to be a pediatrician in office who stands up for the health of our children and who won’t sit quietly while MAGA politicians put them at risk.

But I can’t get there without you. Will you chip in $10 right now to help send a pediatrician to the Senate — before more children in our communities pay the price?
