A quick heads up that early bird tickets disappear Wednesday: If you are called to soulful communion in Santa Fe, please gather with me and evolutionary astro-queen Emily Trinkaus for Surrender to Your Revolutionary Rebirth. Join us for astrology-inspired writing, creativity, herbal ceremony and sacred sisterhood to nourish your soul as you claim the cosmic rebirth that's waiting for you.

Beloveds,

It’s 1988 and the world is about to change in revolutionary ways. It was the time of big hair, yuppies making big money on Wall Street and regular folks trying to find their feet after weathering the worst recession since 1929.

Yep, my weekly contemplation led me to hop on the Way Back Machine, and journey all the way back to the release of Living Colour’s Cult of Personality. If you don’t know it, or can’t recall it, watch it now. This 38 year old song has held up exceptionally well. Seeing those badass black dudes shredding on guitars and banging their rasta mohawked heads was (and still is) exhilarating.

It really felt like we were waking up — and it was thrilling. Watching Apartheid disintegrate and the Berlin Wall come down gave us real hope for a future world that might actually work for everyone, rather than a haves-vs-have-nots world leaving regular people behind.

My teen punk self, the good-hearted, combat boot-wearing kid was stoked.

Fast forward nearly 40 years later and that song is more relevant than ever. Who would have thunk that after all that global liberation we’d end up worshiping all manner of Golden Cows: the Kardashian cult, celebrity presidents, Big Pharma, Big Ag and Big Tech. Even our present fascination and obsession with identity and the small self has landed us in the most narcissistic era ever.

Somewhere along the way we collectively lost our way. We lost the throughline of our shared humanity. We traded substance for hype, spirit and soul for the trappings of the material world.

It’s no surprise that this time period overlaps perfectly with Neptune in Pisces (2011-2026), whose shadow manifests as illusion and deception. This foggy transit has in many ways contributed mightily to our collective misremembering of the truth of who we are.

Have we traded the embodied knowing of our true divine essence for the shallow misperception of illusory personality?

Every spiritual tradition I know of distinguishes between your true essence and the personality; the false, conditioned, egoic self. And yes, of course, we are only humans here, having at once a physical and spiritual experience. But it may be helpful to remember that dysfunction lives only in the level of personality.

Inside each of us is a seed of light, truth and passion. It’s your true
essence, the self you came in as before family, culture, religion, education, and politics (mis)shaped you into someone else.

Your true essence is divine. It’s holy. It is love.

So as we continue our descent into this collective dark night experience, take heart in the knowing that there is a purpose to this passage. It’s how we awaken. You are invited to pull the Neptunian sleep from the corners of your eyes and remember who you are.

Each one of us is being called back home now, back to Spirit, back to love. It looks different for everyone. There isn’t just one way. But if you listen deeply, you will feel the evolutionary pull towards that which you are becoming. And through your becoming we are creating a new reality, a new world, one that is grounded in love.

I blab on and on about this in the video below. If you find it useful, I would be delighted if you shared it with one person in your soul fam who might like to remember how badass Living Colour was/is and the promise of the awakening that awaits. (They invited us to wake up back then but we took the slower scenic route, no biggee - we’re on our way now.)

The Spirit notes in today’s episode:

  • The Cult of Personality, then and now: Living Colour released that song as we were waking up — and it was thrilling!!

  • What Neptune in Pisces (2011-2026) has to do with all of this

  • Have we traded essence for superficial personality?

  • What happens if we collectively worship the Golden Cow

  • The path back to your divine self and our collective humanity

If you need help remembering that you ARE divine love and divinely loved, let’s talk. My work has been described as the mirror that lets you see yourself as this love - even when you cannot see it for yourself. Which is exactly why we are not meant to do any of this alone.

>>> If these messages resonate, please share with one person in your soul fam. This is my ministry of love and it really helps if you like, subscribe and share. I appreciate you so much.

P.S. Come to Santa Fe! If you can swing, it, come to Santa Fe for a half-day women's retreat on 7/11 with my sister from another mister, renegade evolutionary astrologer Emily Trinkaus for Surrender to Your Revolutionary Rebirth. We'll help you create that nourishing space so you can actually hear the evolutionary pull of your soul. Early bird ends Wednesday!

P.P.S. dogs remember who they are

This sweet beast never forgets she’s a dog. She never forgets her shared dogness. Yes, she was abused as a pup. Yes, she’s now afraid of new people. But she’s pure dog through and through. I will spare you the disgusting dog details, but let’s just say she’s completely unapologetic about being 100% dog.

My hope for all of us is to return to our shared humanity. A return to love. To compassion. To acting in alignment with our vision for a humane future for all of us, including all the four-leggeds (and winged and water creatures, and our plant and mushroom friends, too, of course). xoxox
