Anne Elrod Whitney · It's me, Anne!

Some weeks writing feels continuous, and I feel deep into it, and surfacing to cook and move around and love my kids and all that seems easy to do and then keep on writing the next day. Other weeks, writing feels impossible, and all the other things a human person does daily take up all the time, and it feels like I will never, ever end up writing again and will forever loooooong to day and night. Other weeks are even worse, with time set aside for writing and lots of ideas to work with, but my brain tells me to space out or buy chairs or some other non-writing non-creating instead. I’ll say it again: Writing is HARD.

This week, these things have kept me writing:

  1. This picture of Austin Kleon ‘s studio and his words about it with Jane Ratcliffe .

  2. The promises I made to read from my work in progress at the upcoming NCTEAR Conference, and that it will happen in my home state where I shall eat all the Texan food things ❤️ Plus check out the cool block print on its theme:

  3. Finding out that Pat Thomson, a writing researcher whose work I admire and use a lot with students who are working on academic writing, has had a blog for many years filled with things I like and can share and enjoy! Like this piece on the rules of academic writing

  4. Looking forward to a day of writing with Charlotte and another day of writing with Ona Gabriel— back to back! What a gift it is to have writer friends. And then because I am a nerd, right after I typed the sentence before this one, I googled “writer friends.” Because of course I did. https://electricliterature.com/we-need-to-tell-a-different-kind-of-love-story/

    You’re welcome.
