Hello May! I kicked off the month with a trip to LA, and am writing to you from LAX, waiting to board my flight back home. But before we get into this last week, I have an end-of-April recap. The last week of the month was an exciting one, so I thought it might be fun to chronicle here.
Knowing the latter half of the week would call for more dressed-up looks, I leaned into comfort as much as possible beforehand.
Enter Negative.
Negative is a brand I initially discovered for their Whipped fabric, which truly might be the softest material I’ve ever put on my body. My favourite at home outfit will always be Whipped from head to toe (undergarments included).
If I didn’t already have reason enough to love the brand, trying their other fabrics really sealed the deal. The Waffle Knit, Fino Featherweight Cashmere, and Slink (a slinky-soft Italian viscose) are all equally amazing.
What I love most about Negative is that everything is thoughtfully designed to feel elevated enough for your morning coffee run (or whatever the day calls for), while still feeling totally comfortable and confident.
A selection of all my favourite Negative pieces here!
One highlight of the week was a short trip to Toronto, where I hosted a dinner in celebration of Jenni Kayne launching in Canada. I’ve been a fan for as long as I can remember, so it was truly such an honour and a thrill to be part of it.
I arrived with a little bit of time, so I took myself on a walk and a solo lunch date before heading back to the hotel to get ready for the event.
After a hot shower, I prepped my skin with 10 minutes of red LED and my go-to post-travel eye mask, followed by the best eye cream for makeup.
I wasted no time and steamed my outfit for the night during skin prep. You’ll never catch me travelling without my Steamery steamer—it’s truly the best I’ve ever used.
Nate (@beautybynate) came over for hair and makeup and did such an incredible job. Highly recommend if you’re ever looking for glam in Toronto.
We had a lovely, intimate dinner at Milou. I got to catch up with friends and meet so many new faces. I had so much fun I lost track of time and stayed out way past bedtime.
So happy that Jenni Kayne is now shipping to Canada, just in time for summer!
I squeezed in an early appointment with my naturopath, Dr. Melissa Cugliari (she specializes in cosmetic dermatology), for a facial before leaving town. We did acupuncture, red light, and massage. The glow never ceases to blow me away.
Thursday evening, I attended the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards with H&M.
I wore an H&M dress, but the night ended up being colder than expected, so I threw on a vintage Moschino cardigan before heading out the door.
That brings us to Friday, where I spent most of the day glued to my computer—writing this and catching up on emails—but I did get to meet Alejandra from Frances de Lourdes for coffee while she was in town for the weekend. It’s always such a dream to meet the wonderful people behind some of my favourite brands. Alejandra creates some of the most luxurious closet essentials, made from the softest Italian and Japanese fabrics. If you’ve yet to discover the brand, I highly recommend.
A big thank you to Negative for partnering with me on today’s post!
Until next time xx
