My fingers were cramping. I had been texting for about 15 mins. Each message was organizing something, scheduling something, encouraging someone. I was looking at the word I wanted to write and it literally hurt my fingers to type it out. My whole body felt tight.
So, I put my phone down and went for a walk. I left my phone.
The day was warm, but cool enough for a coat. I tried to breathe and shake the problem out of my hands. What was happening to me?
Ah, I was holding so much.
I hate admitting this. I hate that I can’t do it all. Sometimes I even pride myself with how much I can accomplish and get done in a day.
I was holding so many things and so many people with a death grip. This isn’t new for me. I have a hard time with soul boundaries. I let people come all the way inside, set up camp, and stay as long as they like. (Don’t worry, I’ll clean up the mess you make).
I’ve done it again. See, my soul, if it goes unchecked goes A-WALL.
So I walked. I didn’t just surrender each person and thing by name, I walked each person and thing to Jesus. Turns out, He can handle all the hard things. When I grab on tight, I get all turned around—my hands cramp. When I take people to Jesus, He turns them around and takes them where they need to go.
If you feel tension in your body, you are likely holding something too much. Your body is telling you what your soul is trying to communicate.
It’s time to let go and trust Jesus.
I had a therapist tell me once, “If your backpack doesn’t fit right, it’s likely you are carrying a load that isn’t yours to hold.”
I hope and pray these little love notes encourage you.
My recent book, “Feel,” dropped in price AGAIN! It is the cheapest I have seen it—$18. It really is a wonderful resource for yourself, friend, mother in law, sister.
Stay Awake to Love
