One of my favorite things to do is to talk to people about their feelings.
(I released a book on this 3 days ago).
What feelings do you like to feel?
What feelings are you uncomfortable with?
Some people LOVE to feel Surprised. Some people LOVE to feel sad. It’s wild! Some people hate feeling Anger. That’s me, I HATE it.
Writing the section on anger for my book was the hardest. But, the closer I came to understanding anger, the more I discovered—freedom. I discovered God’s closeness to me as I allowed myself to feel the intensity of my bothered soul.
Me—
I screamed-demanded-growled-stomped at God for all the unjust things in my life and in the world.
God—
“Now, you are finally praying.”
For those of you who don’t like feeling your anger, I understand. It takes some work to untangle our emotions (especially the ones that are hard to feel). But, I’d invite you to do this with your anger as you feel it—
Name it (there is a difference between agitated and frustrated)
Feel it (Let it rise up within you)
Experience it (Do something with it—scream, slam, stomp, shout)
Follow it (Once you get your anger out of your body, it usually turns into something else—sadness, fear, peace) Where does your anger take you?
Say it (allow God and others to meet you in your anger)
These steps aren’t magic, but maybe just a simple guide.
If you need help, I have a book for you! haha (Get Feel here: Baker Book House $18!)
Just for you, my weekly reader, I have FREE audiobooks. If you have already purchased a book, please grab yourself an audible copy! (only 25 left!)
As always—Stay Awake to Love
