Week 33, 2026: Slow days

This week wasn't particularly eventful. On Thursday, I rewatched Brand New Day , but on the PCX screen, this time. Wow, this year is shaping up to be a year of movies for me. I mean, the amount of the movies I’ve watched this year alone. It is / was a chill weekend. I didn't get up to much yesterday. I was down a YouTube rabbit hole — this time, I was watching videos on sculpting (wood, stone,…

Week 32, 2026: A week of stories

This was a work-heavy week. I also fell sick in the latter half of the week (a cold, blaming the weather) . I’ve almost recovered now. This Friday, I finished reading Crime and Punishment , by Dostoevsky. I really enjoyed it (having read it in roughly a week!) , and I’m regretting not annotating or highlighting portions of the book for later reference. Yesterday, I watched Spider-Man: Brand New…

Week 31, 2026: Stargazing

August is here. Man, how quickly this year seems to have gone by, looking back. On Friday I went to the rooftop to do some stargazing. It was a clear sky (very pleasant weather) , and I used an app called Stellarium to keep track of different stars and planets in the sky. Below are two photos of the Moon and Venus. (The Moon looks like a giant spotlight in the sky, while Venus is just a tiny dot,…

Week 30, 2026: Portfolio live

I was busy at work for the most part this week. Yesterday, I finally published my portfolio. It took me a while to update it, and I am glad that it’s live now. I also (finally) finished reading The Count of Monte Cristo yesterday. I LOVED it. It was one of the longest books I’ve read, yet (started back in Feb, this year). I think it’s one of those stories / works that will stay with me for quite a…

Week 29, 2026: The Odyssey

I watched The Odyssey today. AMAZING. It’s a must watch for sure. I liked it so much that I booked another show for next Sunday so my dad and I can watch it. Again at Allu Cinemas. Other than that this week was very work focused. Yesterday, I made really good progress on my portfolio. I am constantly questioning myself in terms of the choices I am making because this is very different to what I’ve…

what do I write about?

It’s been a while. There is a blank page and I don't know what to write. This is mostly me thinking out loud. After a bunch of weeknotes, a proper journal post starts to feel a bit high-stakes. Weeknotes are easy; just log what happened. A blank essay page wants a topic. Something bigger than “work was hectic this week.” So the mind starts looking for topics. Portfolio? Design/art? Offline living?…

Week 28, 2026: Small things

This week was hectic. Work mostly. There was a team dinner on Wednesday, at a place close to the office. Pretty chill, honestly. I socialised with coworkers and had fun. Next Sunday I'm watching The Odyssey at Allu Cinemas with my sister and BIL. I still don't know how they got the tickets, that theater's been impossible to book lately (because of all the hype). Beyond that, I’ve been busy…

Week 27, 2026: Peaks and valleys

Half the year has passed. 🫠 I feel like I’ve been through so much already. Not much happened this week, except that I was busy at work. It was very hectic. The theme of it being cloudy outside continued, and at the risk of sounding overly theatrical, but alas, nary a drop of rain. (Come up with THAT, AI.) On Tuesday, our team from work went to a local café, for a colleague’s farewell. It was fun.…

Week 26, 2026: Resort day

This week was pretty chill. It was pleasant outside — it has been quite cloudy / rainy of late and I’m enjoying it. There was an office outing this Wednesday at a local resort. My colleagues and I planned on making the most out of the trip and we really did. This time, I went into the pool, after a really long time (side note: I don’t know how to swim.) I went up and down all the water slides, and…

Week 25, 2026: The weekender

I was mostly busy at work this week. I impulse bought a new watch yesterday (a Timex Weekender). I don’t know why; I’ve been watching videos of watches lately. I must stop before it gets too out of hand ( pun absolutely intended) . I’ve also been slowly making my way through The Count of Monte Cristo . Slowly being the operative word here. Other than that, this weekend was spent on the down low.…

Week 24, 2026: Pondicherry

This weekend, I was in Pondicherry with my family. One thing that surprised me immediately was the scale of the city. Looking at it from the air before landing, I imagined something much smaller. Immediately upon landing, I got Goa vibes. The drive from the airport was equally interesting. Everything was in Tamil (I’ve always found Tamil interesting as a language, both written and spoken.) It has…

Week 23, 2026: Work for days (and collecting ideas)

There’s not much to write about this week. It was FILLED with work, and I’ve been working non-stop. I forgot to mention that my sister gifted me an Apple Pencil Pro last Sunday (my birthday), and I’ve been using it non-stop for writing or making little doodles (I am hesitant to call it 'art', hahaha.) Speaking of art, I got myself a Midjourney subscription this week. I’ve been collecting things on…

Week 22, 2026: 33

I turned 33 this weekend. Yesterday, two school friends reached out and invited me out for dinner. We ended up at Hard Rock Café, catching up on years of life, given I’m meeting them after SO long (literally). It definitely felt a bit strange meeting people who knew a completely different version of you. There was so much growth that we all saw in each other. Both of them told me I looked exactly…

Week 21, 2026: French phase

It has been very hot outside this week. My sensitive skin doesn’t agree with the heat. I’ve been wearing beaucoup sunscreen and layered clothing to protect myself, but at what cost? I can’t wait for it to rain / cool down. As a child, I used to love the summers and I remember I could handle the heat / sun on my skin, but now I prefer winters more. Anyway, this Wednesday, I had gone out to lunch…

Week 20, 2026: Creative inspo (and outages)

Not much to write about this week either, except work. It’s been quite hot outdoors. I started working on some mockups for a little side project idea I had yesterday: A site / feed that provides inspiration to creatives, sourced from my creative practice channel on Arena. Here is a little working prototype that I put together today. Still very early stage so it’s a bit wonky. (Disclosure: I used…

Week 19, 2026: Orcas for days

Just like last week, I don’t have much to write about this week. Been busy at work. I ordered a few books this week, as I want to get back to reading. I started reading The Count of Monte Cristo earlier this year, but haven’t been able to keep up. This weekend, I’ve been on a movie-watching roll. I watched Mortal Kombat 2 yesterday. I found it to be pretty fun and a tad cheesy. Definitely better…

Week 18, 2026: Heat, repeat, retreat

Not much to write about this week, I was busy mostly at work. Been pretty hot outside lately. This long weekend, I mainly spent time staying in and resting up. I rewatched Dhurandhar 2 with my mom (I know it’ll be out on streaming in a few days), and watched The Devil Wears Prada yesterday. I also spent some time planning my next trip (thinking South East Asia; Vietnam/Malaysia), given that I…

Week 17, 2026: Side quests and splurges

I missed last week’s note. Well, it was a busy week, and the weekend was a bit hectic too. I hung out with Franks for a bit on Sunday. It was exhausting, and I fell sick the next day. This week also was a tad busy. I’ve mainly spent the latter part of the week reorienting to become kinder / gentler with myself, considering the stuff I’ve been going through in this year so far. I went on a shopping…

Week 15, 2026: From Hampi to Here

Last weekend I was in Hampi with my colleagues. It was very fun but also super hot and humid. The place itself was slow, almost indifferent to us. We went around seeing old monuments, temples, and everything in between. The evenings, though, were a riot. Then the week began, as it does. Work came back in full force. Wednesday blurred into both work and not-work. There was a work outing. I played…

Week 13, 2026: Karaoke for days

I watched Dhurandhar 2 on Wednesday. I went for a late night show at Prasads that was supposed to start at 9:45, but it got delayed by 30 min. The show ended at 2:30 AM, and I had an early start at work the same morning. Fun. I realised I might both be a night owl and an early bird in that I always seem to be wake up early no matter when I sleep. Light sleeper problems. On Friday, we went bar…

Week 12, 2026: Back, slowly

I know I’ve been away too long. The past few weeks have been little heavy. I’ve mainly been taking care of my Dad who got hospitalized and diagnosed with something serious. This morning, I received a bit of a good news that things are now under control. Here’s to easier days ahead. So how have I been doing? I am not entirely sure. One day at a time, I suppose. I’ve also been journaling to cope…

on change

Some changes are just a lot. Sometimes it feels like all at once, you realise several things have shifted (or are shifting) at the same time, and you’re not entirely sure how to orient yourself. I’ve been in one of those lately. The thing nobody really talks about with change is the loneliness of it. Not the loneliness of being alone, but the loneliness of being mid-process . Being in the midst of…

Week 7, 2026: Raiding tombs (and tissues)

This week was aggressively uneventful. Work happened. Rectangles were drawn. Updates were sent. Meetings were ...met. I’ve been feeling a bit sick today, hoping it does not turn into a full-blown cold tomorrow. 🤧 Apart from that, I’ve been raidin’ tombs (read: continuing my Tomb Raider playthrough) for most of the weekend. Something I might continue tomorrow; it’s the long weekend, after all.…

Week 6, 2026: Mini parties

This week, I went to an unplanned movie night at one of my colleague’s place. It was good fun. We had mini samosas, popcorn, and pizza. We are very keen to do it again — probably going to be renting a mini movie theater too, while we’re at it. This weekend was my sister’s birthday. I drove down to their place and spent some time with them. It was cool — a small party, cake-cutting duties, and some…

Week 5, 2026: (Sick emoji)

I returned on Monday evening from Mumbai, and the very next day had gone to a work outing. The rest of the week was spent busy at work. I fell ill over the weekend, so I’ve been taking a lot of rest / naps, and have begun rewatching the Harry Potter movies (on the third one right now). I last saw them in my teens, so it’s fun to watch them again. I also bought ticket to see Tame Impala on a whim…

the Lollapalooza ’26 experience

This past week I was in Mumbai for Lollapalooza India 2026, and while the acts hadn’t excited me when I first booked the early bird ticket, I was completely blown away by the overall experience. It was also my first concert experience in a LONG time, so me feeling Amazed would be a gross understatement. I suppose it’s a feeling that I can’t quite put into words. Also, Mumbai is my favorite city…

Week 3, 2026: New phone

This week was uneventful and mostly work-oriented. My new phone arrived this week — the iPhone 17 Pro in “cosmic orange”. It’s my first pro phone, and deciding to take the plunge felt like a small but intentional upgrade. My old iPhone 12 had been overheating and was clearly trying to retire after a respectable five year run! (Liquid Glass remains the prime suspect.) I’ve yet to test the…

Week 2, 2026: Unplanned invites

This week involved me easing out of vacation mode and back into work-per-usual. There was no dramatic re-entry, just the familiar resumption of calendars, messages, and routines settling back into place. It did feel good, in an understated way — getting back on track, seeing my colleagues again, and noticing how easily the pace returned after the lull. Friday ended with an outing. I had ramen with…

Week 1, 2026: New year, same notes

(I’ve opened these notes with “G’day folks” for a long time now. Time for something a little looser this year. This means no openers and/or closers any more.) This was an uneventful week. It was quiet. I didn’t do much. I played my guitar, some Bloodborne, did some workouts here and there, went on a few drives, and took li’l naps in between. A welcome break indeed. In terms of what I did get…

2025, a recap

December came and went without this post taking shape. It passed quickly, in that familiar end-of-year blur. I opened a blank page more than once, stared at the blinking cursor, typed a line or two, and closed it again. I put off writing this year’s recap post for longer than usual — not because of resistance or procrastination, but more out of a sense that I didn’t yet know what shape it needed…

Week 52, 2025: On that note

G’day folks. This week was a bit chill. It gave end-of-year vibes, indeed. A colleague of mine hosted a little house party and we all chilled at his place for a bit. We had good food, a little karaoke session (that’s three karaoke sessions this month alone, man am I on a roll.) , and played some games. It was mighty fun! This weekend, I continued chilling at home. Taking it slow, very deliberately…

Week 51, 2025: Small updates

G’day folks. Nothing major to report from this week. This weekend, I picked up my PS5 controller and went back to playing Bloodborne (my fave game). I also bought Gran Turismo 7 , and have been playing it a LOT. I also watched Dhurandhar with my sister and brother-in-law. I liked it — the performances all around were fantastic, but it was super long (I had no idea of its runtime before going in).…

Week 50, 2025: #frAnks

G’day folks. This week felt big, in ways I’m still unpacking. The headline event was my sister’s wedding, which meant equal parts joy and chaos. It still hasn’t sunk in quite yet. It kicked off with the haldi ceremony, with people enthusiastically applying haldi with a level of confidence that suggested there would be no survivors. The wedding itself was beautiful. One of those days where…

Week 49, 2025: Fast days

G’day folks. Oh look, December’s here! This week. Man. Calling this week brutal would be an understatement. It was fast-paced / hectic, and I also dealt with a migraine that lasted multiple days. I went pretty hard. Not good, Anith. The weekend was also its own kind of hectic. It was filled with shopping, an activity that I don’t enjoy. I mean I’ve put this off for so long — I am a major slacker…

Week 48, 2025: Slow days

G’day folks. This week was on the quieter side as it was mostly work focused. It was good overall. The weekend was taken deliberately slow — the kind of slow where I played my guitar but did not record anything. The world may have to wait another week for my unplugged sessions. Today involved meeting my uncle and aunt, along with some more shopping for my sister’s wedding. It’s fast approaching,…

Week 47, 2025: Come as it went

G’day folks. It’s been a busy one, so not much excitement to report, but still a few little things worth jotting down. I missed all my workouts this week (a first!), but I’m planning to pick things back up from tomorrow. I’ve also been thinking about getting back into making generative art. Making no promises here though. ✌️ I’m juggling with 50 other things lately, from trying to stay fit to…

Week 46, 2025: Riffs and rides

G’day folks. This week went by really fine. The vibes were just right. I dusted off my old guitar (I bought an acoustic early this year), and have been playing and jamming through some 90s alt rock songs. Those songs will always hold a special place in my heart, especially as I learned (self-taught) guitar on a couple of Nirvana tracks, as a teenager. I spent most of today outdoors. My sister is…

Week 45, 2025: Uneventful, yet hectic

G’day folks. This week was, once again, mostly uneventful. It was also, once again, super hectic. (Three weeks in a row, yo.) The weekend was spent in recovery mode. I took some long drives; both car and motorcycle. (I might really need to go on an actual break soon. It’s been a while... Going to start prepping for it? Third time’s the charm?) My workouts have been going good and consistent for…

Week 44, 2025: A quiet, busy week

G’day folks. I had a busy week. Work kept me super occupied for the most part. It was pretty uneventful otherwise. I missed three workout days this week and it felt kinda bad, but life happens y'know? It is what it is. This weekend was also pretty slow and chill. I watched a couple of Marvel movies — most notably, Thunderbolts* today. I found it to be pretty good, given that I was pretty much…

Week 43, 2025: A steady week

G’day folks. This week’s note will once again be short since nothing particularly eventful happened. I’ve been keeping up with my workout routine, and leg days are starting to feel a tad easier now. On Tuesday, I managed three full sets of reverse lunges (just bodyweight), and I felt good and proud of myself for going through it with sheer ✨ willpower and determination ✨. (It hurt a lot the next…

Week 42, 2025: Growing gains (and pains)

G’day folks. Nothing much exciting to report on from this week, so this post will be rather short and focused a tad on fitness. I’ve been keeping up with my workout routine and goals (although I missed Wednesday cos I was too exhausted). However I did double time on Thursday so I’m all square! I also introduced a 6kg kettlebell into my routine so it's all working out really perfectly. I am still…

Week 41, 2025: Slow, sore, satisfying

G’day folks. I resumed, or rather, restarted after a really long time, my strength training workout this week. I hadn't done it in a while too so my body was generally sore throughout the week. My main goal this week was to get back into the swing of things (no pun intended), and start building a good discipline. I am also doing this at home using my trusty dumbbells (different weights).…

Week 40, 2025: Road tripping

G’day folks. This long weekend, I went on a road trip with my family to Warangal. I did most of the driving, of course, and the whole thing began from a casual conversation at work. (It is a running joke at this point!) The original plan was Hampi, but my dad decided to join at the last moment, and since he’s not comfortable with long drives, we settled on somewhere closer. None of us had ever…

sprezzatura

Yesterday I learned a new word: sprezzatura, and it feels like something I’ve been brushing against for years without ever knowing its name. It’s an Italian word describing the art of effortlessness, of appearing natural, as though things simply ‘fell into place.’ In my twenties, I lived that way without trying. I’d walk out of the house with my hair a mess, bedhead that somehow carried me through…

Week 39, 2025: A slow week (and broken streaks)

G’day folks. First things first: remember how I said in my last weeknote that I wish I had someone to bar/café crawl with? WEELLLLL, I ain’t doin’ that no mo’. This week my body said nope, and knocked me flat. Not to be too dramatic, but I had an office outing on Monday evening, and I had to walk in the rain to catch a cab home late at night, after which I just crashed hard. I actually started…

Week 38, 2025: Restaurant hopping

G’day folks. This week was HEAVY on work. This is by no means an understatement. It was filled with multiple long days and was generally hectic. One day at a time, as the old saying goes. It also rained most evenings during the week, and Wednesday evening stands out strongly to me in terms of my memories. By the time I left the office, it was completely empty — I was the only one still working.…

Week 37, 2025: Outings for days

G'day folks. This week was heavy on work outings — more than the usual. (The usual being zero.) On Monday, I went with a group of my colleagues to a local brewery (Zero40), where we had some beers and chatted for close to 3 hours. Next, on Wednesday, I was part of another outing, but this time with the larger team. However, we didn’t stick around long and bailed after an hour. Fun, but quick. This…

Week 36, 2025: Golden years, lazy days

G'day folks. My dad had his birthday this week! We kept it small and quiet at home, but it was lovely — just family, some cake, and laughter. It was really nice to spend the evening with him (and my family), slow down, and celebrate together. Outside of home, I had a couple of work outings this week, which were a lot of fun and a good break from the usual routine! And then the weekend rolled…

Week 35, 2025: Backstreet’s back?

G'day folks. (Random title. I am so exhausted I can’t think of a good title.) (Yuuup, I know I missed the last two weeks’ week notes. And to think I had a good streak going... truth is, I’ve been so busy staring at screens that I didn’t feel like spending even more time at the computer on weekends, ya know?! Even writing this right now makes my eyes watery, and I’ve had to reduce brightness and…

Week 32, 2025: Card games (and other notes from a damp week)

G'day folks. (Note: The title length is directly proportional to the number of Sufjan Stevens tracks I listened to while writing this.) It rained a lot this week, mostly in the evenings. A minor tragedy for my commute. Work took up most of my time, and I’ve been in focus mode for much of it. Definitely felt a tad low on energy this week. Not complaining; it is what it is. At the office, we marked…
