Hey Indigoer,
This morning I’m waking up in San Diego with some friends for a little retreat. On the agenda is simply the following: Mahjong, pool, dinner. That’s it. This is our second time heading out here with Merritt Beck for a few days of true rest and relaxation. I remember saying last year that I don’t think I’ve ever truly done a trip like this. I’m more of a go-go-go person when I travel, but this is a true vacation.
If I’m being honest, the last few weeks I’ve been feeling like I need a bit of a break. A break from social media, the comparison game (one I don’t typically play, but lately I’m eyeballs deep in it), and the immense feeling of needing to be creating just to post.
I realized while chatting with a friend about all these feelings that I haven’t ever taken a proper break. One where I don’t check my email, and don’t dare open my Instagram. I think it’s really hard to turn it all off when social media feels, well, social. It also feels like an easy lift while on vacation to get a little “work” in by sharing what I’m doing or wearing. But as someone who is highly addicted to their phone, we’ll see if taking a real social media break actually happens.
Over the weekend I watched the Travis Barker documentary on Hulu. While yes I listened to Blink-182 when I was a teen, I wasn’t ever truly obsessed. As a KUWTK viewer though, I became such a fan of Travis over the last few seasons. This movie documented his life and all the losses in it from his mom, to the plane crash. It was sad and heartbreaking, but also a bit mind blowing learning all about his talent and rise to fame. Highly recommend giving this one a watch this week.
I’ve gone through a few beauty empties lately, and started some fresh products to try. So here’s a list of what’s new in my rotation.
Tata Harper Resurfacing Serum - many of you also said you love the resurfacing weekly mask
Roz Hair Shampoo & Conditioner - this is what my NYC hairstylist uses and I am loving it. I also really like their volumizing hair mousse for when I want a big blowout.
Fenty Bomb Stix in Lu$t Bunny - it’s the perfect everyday nude

I’ve got a stack of books and I am determined to read them. I’m finishing up Room by Emma Donoghue, and I may need to watch the movie next. I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy of my friend Becca Freeman next book, Back Where We Started (pre-orders are so important for authors; grab your copy here for a cozy fall read for when it arrives in October). And once I read those, The Shampoo Effect is next on deck. A friend gave this one to me thinking I’d enjoy it, I’ll report back.
I never thought I’d be browsing Neiman’s, but turns out their sale section is quite good. Lots of brands I love and wear, and a few I’ve been admiring that now feel like an attainable price. Plus, many of the pieces are an extra 25% off. Hurry though, sizes are going fast.
The perfect suede bag for fall from Staud
Loving this midi dress from Rails for finishing summer in
For the brides, this is a fun Tanya Taylor dress!
And this top makes for the perfect Going Out Top, comes in two colors
I’m personally trying to avoid lettuce, but haven’t been too worried about anything else. The food recalls seem to be never ending lately. It’s not only frustrating, but frightening. It’s been a topic of conversation with so many people in my circle too, it’s hard to escape it. I found this article on The Preamble written by a favorite science communicator, Jessica Rivera, where she breaks it all down.
Buck Mason is a brand that’s pretty new to my closet, but is proving to be an MVP. Sharing a full review and sizing guide tips if you’ve never shopped, plus a very cute outfit. Check it out here →

Hope you make each day, an indigo day.
