Hey Indigoer,
This past weekend was one of those perfect New York City weekends. The kind that reminds me of why I spend so much on rent every month. From ice cream dates with friends, to my first Phish concert at Madison Square Garden (also known as Taylor Swift’s wedding venue), and epic sandwiches on a park bench in Washington Square Park. I clocked tens of thousands of steps, indulged in some ice cream and froyo, all while enjoying the NO humidity we were blessed with in the last 72 hours.
I also spent several hours in Queens this weekend finally getting new figure skates. This has been an ordeal to say the least. It started with a trip to Greenwich, then 3 separate trips to Queens, all to buy a boot that ended up not working once I got on the ice. I was so frustrated.
I finally went back over the weekend to try on the new boot they ordered for me, all for it to still not work. Back to square one of trying different brands and styles for over an hour. I laced up so many boots that afternoon that I gave myself rope burn on multiple fingers and am now nursing blisters and cuts (this is not an exaggeration; you try tying up figure skating boots for a solid hour and report back with your very own bloody hands). But we finally got a boot that works, and sadly had to then buy new blades too—not the cheapest of sports to get into, that’s for sure. I’m now all set though, and I’ll be on the ice ASAP. Figure skating content, incoming.
I am TORN on which jacket to keep from my NSALE purchase. I went a little crazy and ordered lots to try, but think I only truly need one new jacket for fall from the sale. I’m torn between this cropped leather one, this navy faux leather trench or this knit wrap scarf one. Watch the video below to see them all.
Over the weekend I threw on this amazing new dress that Rue Sophie sent me. It’s a new to me brand and I really love their minimal, clean lines, but sort of interesting elements to their pieces. The dress is the perfect easy midi you can throw on and add a fun sandal with and you’re set (see it in action here). I added a big chunky gold necklace and felt pulled together instantly. I did a medium. I think the brand runs a smidge small. Also loving this top and this one too.
I really enjoyed this article from Evonne Sturm on how we’ve come to know nail polish colors. As someone who has to always have their nails painted, and is one of those people who owns upwards of 20 bottles of polish, I thought the insight was so interesting.
Colors I’m currently crushing on this summer are Olive & June’s Not Kale, it’s the perfect green-toned yellow, and I’m back on my Lakur Poolside Dreams blue hue. I will forever shout my love for Dazzle Dry base and top coat for keeping my polish looking great for 7+ days. And no, you do not need to use their polish for it to work, just base and top coat is what I use.
I worked on creating a comprehensive guide to visiting the Hamptons. From how to get there, either by bus, train or car, and all the best restaurants we ate at. One thing I learned on this trip: the food scene isn’t that great. Our hosts have been going out east their whole lives, and they only took us to the top spots. Plus, some things to do and must-visit boutiques. Read the guide →
This week I’m heading to a new destination, Jackson Hole. I can’t wait to explore from hikes and kayaking and maybe seeing some animals out in the wild (maybe just no real close encounters though, k?). I’ve got my hiking shoes packed and I’m ready. If you have any recommendations, drop them in the comments.
