What’s it REALLY like running for U.S. Senate?

Folks, I’m often asked what it’s really like running for U.S. Senate.

“How do you make it to all these campaign stops?”

In this final stretch to the primary election, I’m spending every waking hour working in Congress and meeting with voters on the road. Don’t even ask how many tanks of gas I’m using each week.

“Do you ever have down time?”

Not much, but Cheryl and I try to spend quality time with each other every day — whether that’s going on a walk, watching a show or catching a Lynx game.

“When do you sleep?”

I’ll get back to you on that one.

This weekend, I drove across the state to meet with Minnesotans — talking about everything from lowering costs, to better supporting local farmers, to improving resources for small businesses.

Saturday started off with a visit to an International Falls local staple, Coffee Landing Cafe. I grabbed some much-needed caffeine and had a great chat with the owners, Isaac and Chloe!

Next, I was off to an incredible tour of the Cantilever Distillery in Ranier. I learned all about their operation — and the importance of local tourism for small businesses like this one.

Then, I stopped in Bemidji, where I met with Mayor Jorge Prince and other community leaders to talk about the housing issues folks are facing in Greater Minnesota, before heading to a local hotel.

On Sunday, I was thrilled to make it out to the Pennington County Fair in Thief River Falls where I had great conversations with 4H club members and stopped to watch the horse show.

Then, I headed to Scott’s farm in Crookston to learn more about Minnesota’s sugar beet industry while talking about how we can better support our family farmers.

Getting some delicious rhubarb pie and zucchini brownies certainly didn’t hurt, either!

Finally, I sat down with Mayor Carlson of Moorhead and community leaders to discuss where families are feeling the squeeze and how Congress can help lower costs. Rising costs are hitting Minnesotans hard. It’s one of the reasons I’m running for Senate: to make life more affordable.

This U.S. Senate race will be won — or lost — on the margins. I’m spending every day meeting with regular Minnesotans, because as the next U.S. Senator for Minnesota, it’s my job to answer to regular folks — not billionaires, not special interests, not giant corporations.

The Republican machine is targeting me with every dirty trick in the book, but I’m not backing down. I just need folks like you to stay with me.

My primary election is coming up FAST on August 11th. Every dollar I raise before then goes directly toward turning out voters. Can you pitch in anything before midnight?
