Hey team — it’s Angie.
I just made a difficult decision. But let me explain my thinking to you.
June has been a slow fundraising month for Democrats — but the same can’t be said for my MAGA opponent Michele Tafoya. She’s bringing in the big bucks and is ready to flip Minnesota’s U.S. Senate seat red for the first time in decades.
Often, when money is tight, ads are the first thing we have to cut back on. But we can’t afford to risk it – not this time.
We didn’t quite have the money in our budget yet, but this morning I gave my team the go-ahead to spend thousands on our new TV ad with my son, Josh. It was a big risk, and one that I don’t take lightly, but we need to stay on the air if we want to make sure our message keeps reaching voters.
Here’s why I made that decision:
→ National Republicans are going full throttle, flooding Minnesota with attacks and outside money to control the outcome of this race. We need to be ready for what’s coming — and that starts with keeping our TV ads on the air.
→ If we make large investments right now — launching ads, hiring more staff and reaching more voters across Minnesota — we’ll be in a much stronger position to win our primary election on August 11th.
→ Ads are how we reach voters before our opponents do. They’re how I introduce myself before MAGA attacks try to tear me down.
→ Showing up in folks’ living rooms on television helps us break through the noise, tell the truth, and remind Minnesotans which candidates are actually ready to fight for them — and win.
But listen, we all know that ads are expensive. So this morning, when my team and I sat down and looked at the numbers, we had two options:
We could play it safe. Cut back. Scale down our ads. Wait until we have more money in the bank.
OR…
We could do what’s necessary to win. MAGA Michele is counting on us to go quiet. To scale back. And stop connecting with voters. There’s no way in hell I was going to risk her overtaking us.
I took a leap of faith because I know this community. I know that when I’m straight with you about where we are and what we need, enough people who believe in fighting for working families — people who understand what’s at stake in this race — will come through.
Every single dollar right now goes directly toward keeping our ads running and making sure voters hear from us — not just from MAGA Michele and her donors propping up Trump’s lies.
This team is not backed by billionaires. We’re backed by people like you. And that’s how we’re going to win.
All my appreciation,
Angie Craig
