Hey, this is your chance to help choose the title of Roxie Vega’s first book!
Missed last week?
Last known situation—
Roxie took a sip of her drink, knowing the foamy black topping would give her a ghoulish stained smile. “I knew that. The one thing about bikers is they might make their money on the gray side of the law, but a lot of them are actually decent guys. I mean, look at my father, for example. He wouldn’t harm a fly.”
Unless, of course, he was paid by the man sitting across from her.
“Let’s get down to business.”

The Chronicles of Roxie Vega
by Angelique Fawns
He pulled out a paper. She looked at it. Three thousand.
“I thought it was two thousand.”
“That’s the interest, Roxie. We might have forgot about it at your place, but it still exists.”
“Well, how much you gonna pay me per load? And do you have a rig I can borrow?”
“You’ve got a bit of foam on your lip.” He looked mildly disgusted as he wiped at his own mouth to show her where. Then he got back to business. “We don’t provide rigs. If you’re gonna be a space courier, you need your own rig.”
Roxie groaned internally and left her black foam mustache exactly where it was. That was gonna be a bit of a hiccup. But she’d figure out how to manage it. Maybe she could borrow one from a friend. Maybe she could take out another loan. Anyway, she had to get through the negotiations today.
“All right, Chucky. I don’t have my —“
“The first payment is due tomorrow. Five thousand kronars.”
“I don’t even have my license yet. Or a ship. I can’t do it that early. You’re gonna have to give me more time.”
He leaned forward with a napkin and wiped Roxie’s face. “No can do.”
Roxie blinked in astonishment. First, that he cleaned her face like she was a kid, and secondly, that he wouldn’t give her an inch of leeway. She wondered if she should poke him under the table with her gun. How dare he touch her, and how dare he not play ball? The interest on that five grand was continuously growing, and if she didn’t get on it soon, she’d never get out of debt to him.
Chucky saw something in her eyes, and he put up both hands. “Whoa, whoa. I have a plan. I know you’re not ready to fly for me yet. But I have another thing I need taken care of. You’re pretty good at sneaking into places and taking things.”
“How do you know that?”
“I know that old fat Buzz, with his bad knees and his failing health, wasn’t crawling up into the Vanity Voyager to get that Ether Bliss. I know who got it.”
“What do you need, Chucky?”
“The Nova Outriders have something I want. A little something between us. I need you to go get their original leader’s patch.”
Roxie gulped. “You mean Harold’s patch? The revered founder of the club who was recently found dead in Black Hole Sons turf?”
“That’s the one.”
Roxie’s heart sank. “Okay. Mission Impossible.”
“It’s not that impossible. It’s kept up on the wall, in the club, in a glass case. All you gotta do is go in there, break the glass, get the patch, and bring it back to me. Easy. Five thousand of your debt, gone.”
“Twenty thousand, Chucky.”
He laughed. “Oh, the girl negotiates hard.”
“Seriously. I’m not risking life and limb for just five thousand kronars.”
“When was the last time you saw five thousand kronars?”
She just stuck her chin out, didn’t even deign to answer that, and fixed him with a stare. She knew the power of silence. That was one thing she’d been taught.
A look of respect crossed over his face. “All right. Ten thousand kronars. Bring me the patch.”
Roxie shook her head slowly. She had no idea how she was gonna do it. And it might get her into a heck of a lot more trouble than she was in already.
But she had it.
Her first job. And her first step to getting out of debt with Chucky.
Mission Impossible for Roxie. Can she sneak into the rival gang’s clubhouse and steal the president’s patch?
