I’ve been at my Dad’s house in England for the last 9 days. I arrived just as the roses were blooming. Quite marvelous.

Last thursday, during a break from weeding the garden, i got an email from a producer at Virgin Radio saying that they were fans of my videos and asking if there was any chance i’d be up for a quick chat that evening. I confirmed that i would indeed be up for that and then received this brief overview of what the chat would entail.

England was suffering from a heatwave last week which, though wonderful, was slightly miserable due to the fact that no-one has air conditioning (i don’t even have a fan) because as a country we aren’t exactly known for our good weather. More so for the doom and gloom of the constant rain. Earlier that day i had taken a pair of my cousin’s Brandy Melville tracksuit bottoms and turned them into shorts out of desperation. But i didn’t think that was the sort of fashion fun they wanted to hear about.

When the presenter was introducing me there was a long pause before he said my name. I was almost certain he would make that irksome mistake of calling me Angela (as the producer had done mere minutes before)

I had never been on the radio before. It was exhilarating! Similar adrenaline to being on daytime TV, except i didn’t have an outfit to hide behind.

The presenter kept trying to bill himself as unfashionable, hoping that i would turn my nose up at his wardrobe which he claimed was entirely M&S (for those unfamiliar, a supermarket which is actually known to have the best cashmere). I rebuffed that style is objective and is not to do with labels, from this point on we actually had an extremely jolly conversation which i self taped from a fairly unflattering angle but i’ll share below:

I find the general assumption that being fashionable is intrinsically linked to wearing designer garments to be so tedious. Style is so much more than that. This is why the beige affiliate link brigade worries me. Personal style is so much more alluring than the same camel tone two piece circulating Shopmy.

Instead, why don’t you whittle together a wig out of bronze toned Brillo pad?

It looks fabulous next to bloomin’ roses and will come in helpful later in the summer when you have to clean your grill. Hows that for use per wear.
