In 2023, the lead-up to beginning my caravan pilgrimage around Australia, I was experiencing a lot of fear.
Fear around the practicalities of owning a caravan. It was all so foreign to me, and way out of my comfort zone. My brain had no concept of relatively simple things — they were unknown to me, and therefore creating a lot of fear, and anxiety.
But, because I had such a strong intuitive knowing that this was the right path for me, that this path would open me up to what it was that my soul was seeking, I kept on walking.
Despite the fear. Despite the anxiety. Despite the grief. Despite the incredible discomfort I was feeling currently — I kept on taking small, incremental steps forward.
I knew these feelings would be temporary. I knew there would be a steep, learning curve, and then I would make it through the other side. I knew that I was intelligent, and would be able to figure things out.
I honoured what was coming up for me, realising that this was all part of the journey. By taking steps forward through the murky waters of fear and grief, I’d already embarked on my journey. I was already on The Way.
And then, once I started my journey, each new experience would bring up that same fear, and anxiety — moving days, pulling up to new campsites, crossing borders into new territory, going off-road, travelling into the more remote parts of Australia.
My first 7 months on the road I spent in the southern parts of South Australia in familiar coastal terrain. This was my gestating period, where I started to get comfortable with these experiences that were making me incredibly uncomfortable. This was preparing me for the journey through the desert landscapes in the centre of Australia.
The Journey North
As the weather started to cool at the end of summer, and I turned my focus to the journey north, I was feeling intimidated, and not quite ready. That leg of the journey felt daunting to embark on solo, with the vast distances, and remoteness.
I started to feel a shift in my energy in the solitude, and natural beauty of the Flinders Ranges. My confidence began to soar, and I felt I was finally ready to embark on the desert journey.
I travelled through Coober Pedy, where there’s such a beautiful blend of feminine, and masculine energy. The landscape is barren. There’s a lot of mining machinery, and metal graveyards.
And the presence of the Divine Mother is undeniable. The night skies are magnificent, with the Great Cosmic Womb on grand display.
The homes, and churches there are built into the hillside. The people live in caves within the Earth, like womb caves in the Great Earth Womb. They excavate the earth for jewels, symbolic of the Underworld, and the subconscious. This triple Scorpio is completely fascinated by this concept!
As I pondered my journey to Uluru, it felt monumental. It felt like that next stage of the journey would be a monumental shift for me.
Uluru is the earth’s solar plexus chakra. The solar plexus is our power centre — associated with energy, purpose, confidence, and a sense of inner power. With my Saturn in Leo, my initiations in this lifetime have been around self-worth, and inner power. So balancing my solar plexus chakra is a key part of my healing journey.
The element of the solar plexus chakra is fire. My shadow element is fire, and this spiritual pilgrimage that I’m on has been all about balancing the four elements within, with the fire element being my focus.
So Uluru is the fire element of the earth’s energy field. I was physically journeying straight into the fire, so to speak.
Coober Pedy felt like gestating in the womb of the Cosmic Mother, and Earth Mother. I sensed that Uluru would be my rebirthing, full awakening, phoenix rising, and activation of my fire energy.
I crossed the border into the Northern Territory with such a fire in my belly. I’d gained so much confidence on this pilgrimage journey. My fire was activated.
In locational astrology I have a lot of planetary energy running directly through Uluru, including my Saturn MC line (good chance of coming close to finding your true destiny), Sun/Jupiter paran (lucky, expansive, successful, new experiences), and Venus/Chiron paran (love, partnerships).
It felt so expansive to be in the desert landscapes, out in the middle of nowhere. By taking my time, and pushing my edges at a comfortable pace, I was able to do what had been freaking me out only a short time prior — with a smile on my face, and in my heart.
My wonder when I came across the ‘Mala Puta‘ at Uluru.
I found the energy of the land at Uluru very potent — full of wonder, and natural beauty.
Mala Puta is an Anangu women’s site, and is sacred under Tjukurpa (traditional law), which is the Aboriginal word to describe the Sophia universal energy, and refers to the Aboriginal creation period when ancestral beings created the world.
The rock details, and features at the Mala Puta are equivalent to a sacred scripture. They describe culturally important information, and must be viewed in their original location. No photography of the site is allowed — but I will try to describe the image I have etched in my mind.
Particular senior women are responsible for these stories which are passed down from grandmother to granddaughter. In an oral culture, stories are family inheritance. Under Tjukurpa, cultural knowledge is earned, and with it comes great cultural responsibility.
When I first walked past the Mala Puta site, I did not see. The information above is all that is supplied, so the story and message in the rock is not shared with the public. I suspect most people walk past the Mala Puta site completely unaware of the magic, and symbolism of this part of the rock.
When I returned past the Mala Puta site on my way back, I took a moment to connect to the energy, and asked permission to hear the message. And just like magic, I was able to see the Divine Feminine etched into the rock formations.
The Mala Puta site is at a point. The point is a rounded mound shape, much like a woman’s pregnant belly. And at the base of the rounded belly is a triangular shaped hole in the rock, with the point facing upwards, and the two bottom corners curling in the shape of two ovaries. Remarkably symmetrical. A magical womb portal into the Great Earth Womb.
In front of this is a separate rock that has fallen away from the main rock. It is a phallic shape, and pointing upwards towards the yoni cave.
I was in wonderment at the realisation of how universal the womb wisdom is across so many cultures, including the Aboriginal culture. And with the eyes to see, there is evidence of the Divine Mother, and Sacred Union all around us.
Sacred scriptures under the Tjukurpa (traditional law)
On the 10km full base walk around the rock, you come across several other sacred women’s and men’s sites.
The Pulari sacred women’s site was a large yoni-shaped hole in the rock, with striking curvature in the rock formations with remarkable details of the labia, clitoral hood, and vagina of the yoni. The Tjukatjapi sacred women’s site was another yoni-shaped hole in the rock.
The Kuniya Piti sacred men’s site was a curved buttocks with the rock forming what looked like an anus. The Warayuki sacred men’s site carried the “M” shape in the rock formation, with what looked like the masculine and feminine in sacred union.
There are dark watermarks all over Uluru, signifying menstrual blood, and sacred waterholes where the water flows, and gathers.
All these sites convey sacred scriptures under the Tjukurpa (traditional law). Uluru is a physical manifestation of the Divine Mother, with the womb wisdom, and Aboriginal creation story etched into the face of the Earth. Uluru has been forming over millions of years, and the shapes in the rock are formed by the elements — water, wind, earth, and fire. This fascinates me so much to innerstand the wondrous depth of communication from the Divine.
Shortly after walking past the Pulari sacred women’s site, the striking yoni-shaped rock formation, I asked to receive the solar plexus fire activation. It often takes me a while to remember to “ask” for what I’m seeking. I find myself waiting and wondering, and then I realise, “oh, I must ask”. And without fail, when I do ask, that is when I receive the magic.
Being my moon phase, I felt my blood flow downwards. I was called to stop walking and face the rising sun, gifting the energy of the downward flow of my blood to Mother Earth, and Uluru. I experienced a powerful red energy rising upwards, and I was able to merge the two energy flows. This was a powerful activation of my inner fire element.
And it was — Uluru was a rebirthing, full awakening, phoenix rising experience. My solar plexus chakra, power centre was fully activated. My fire was burning bright.
I’ve come to realise this journey through the desert was what I was being guided to all along. This was the heart of my spiritual pilgrimage.
