Word of the Week: ad hominem (ad HA-mah-nem).
From the Latin literally meaning “to the person.” An ad hominem reaction is against the person, not the position or viewpoint he holds. We often (usually?) see this in politics, but it is certainly not limited to the political arena. I see it a lot on social media.
