Most people want the “after” photo. They want the polished version of healing where everything is tied up in a neat, spiritual bow.

But as I wrote in Soul-Happy, “a cover is but a cover, a fine veil on something ill or gone off below... but never a healer.”

The team over at The Honey Pop recently spent some time with my story, and I was struck by how much they leaned into the “mess.” They didn’t just look at the highlights; they looked at the “suffocating” family dynamics and the “non-linear” path it took to get my life back.

They put it better than I could have:

“Nette’s healing in Soul-Happy is not linear by any means. It can get stressful, suffocating, and straight-up messy on all levels. But Nette doesn’t stop fighting for the life she wants. She removes all the self-blame, shares secrets and burdens with others, and ultimately reclaims her inner Viking strength.”

That phrase—reclaiming inner Viking strength—resonated with me deeply. It isn’t about being perfect or having all the answers. It’s about the refusal to stay stuck in the “beige numbness” of a life that isn’t yours. It’s about being willing to wade through the secrets to find the “golden incandescence” waiting on the other side.

If you’ve been feeling like your own journey is a bit too messy or non-linear lately, I hope this review—and my book—reminds you that the fight is the point. The fight for wholeness.
