I fear winter, dark of days, we must

Prepare, I fear darkest January

The most for after that the sun returns

Although it’s cold for quite a while yet

But I suppose it’s Lent I fear the most

For I am fallen man and I require

A remedy for my despair and lack

Of hope but this is given at the start

Of winter Christmas Day and then it dawns

That darkness is to contemplate the light.
