'EMO REVIVAL' outtake #2: the early years of Football, etc

In my upcoming book EMO REVIVAL (pre-order), I tell the stories of dozens of emo and post-hardcore bands that made their marks between the years 2008 and 2018, the era of fourth wave emo, and/or emo revival, and or the new wave of post-hardcore. But I couldn’t fit in as many detailed stories as I wanted to, so I’ll be sharing some outtakes from the book here on Substack. This one is a look into the origin story of Football, etc, the Rainer Maria/Mineral-inspired Houston band whose story actually begins in the great state of New Jersey. While aspects of this piece do appear in the book, much of it is exclusive to this newsletter.
