“We talked about everything and nothing. We laughed and laughed. I really don’t know where the three hours went!”
A beaming Christopher Luxon is perched on a couch in the TV room at Premier House, spilling the tea about what happened at this morning’s catch-up with his caucus colleagues - and it sounds like a fab time was had by all!
“We’re all busy career people and sometimes we forget to take a break from getting the country back on track to sit down and have a good old catch-up. That’s why I made sure that today’s caucus meeting was in person, and not on zoom. That’s the right way of hanging out with your forty-seven besties!”
Christopher confides to ‘The Satiriser’ that there was also a serious business element to the meeting “just to make it tax deductible – hah!”
“No I’m kidding. Just for auditing purposes we had to confirm that I had the full support of caucus. But that was a pro forma matter that took a couple of minutes.”
“The rest of the morning – well, let’s just say that Simeon Brown kicked things off with a spot-on Winston Peters impersonation and things got just more hilarious from there on”.
Christopher also made a point of checking in with his loyal cabinet colleague Erica Stanford, who last night at Wellington Airport had found it impossible to express her support for him.
“It turns out Erica had been suffering an acute bout of sudden-onset laryngitis,” a concerned Christopher reveals.
