Stain removal is one thing, but there comes a time when it is cheaper in the long run to set the charges and start again. I do not have a map in front of me, but I can imagine a D.C. rebuilt acknowledging factual history.
The center of my scheme would be small retail shops with low-income housing above where the White House once stood. Places where people could afford to shop and live as tourists from around the world visited. I would add a canal system to service the city by river boats. I love boats. I love history. D.C. once had both canals and boats.
I could go on, but I won’t. I like what they have done with the Freedom Tower. I think DC has a lot more to atone for. That stain isn't going nowhere. We can build back better. The time for lies, myths, and legends is over. Facts matter. We can tell the story better. We can grow beyond this failure into a better version of our nation than ever.
Don’t Stop Here.
