Today, January 30, 2026, businesses are closing, students are walking out, and the country is being told this is some kind of moral uprising over ICE. I am sitting here in Reno, Nevada, watching school after school empty out, and it’s terrifying.
This is not organic. This is not spontaneous compassion. This is organized emotion, engineered outrage, and our kids are the fuel.
And I say that as a mom who never planned to homeschool and now cannot imagine doing anything else.
Let’s talk about what is actually happening.
We are told this is about cruelty. We are told innocent people are being rounded up. We are told this is some unprecedented crackdown.
Except the numbers do not support the hysteria.
Under President Barack Obama, deportations reached record highs, earning him the nickname “Deporter in Chief” from immigration advocates. Immigration enforcement has never disappeared. It just becomes a moral emergency when the wrong political name is attached to it.
ICE enforces federal law. That is not extremism. That is the job.
What is different now is not enforcement. It is the narrative. The media has framed this as a moral crisis, and suddenly kids in Nevada who cannot explain the difference between a visa overstay and asylum law are marching out of classrooms chanting slogans.
That is not civic engagement. That is emotional programming.
I homeschool my boys. I never thought I would say that.
COVID pushed us there. Masking little kids all day, chaotic distance learning, nonstop vaccine pressure, and an education system in Nevada that already ranks at the bottom nationally. The academics were weak. The ideology was growing. The chaos was constant.
So we pulled them.
And days like today make me want to shout from the rooftops: homeschool, homeschool, homeschool.
Because here is what I see.
Schools are not just teaching math and reading. They are shaping worldview. When entire student bodies are comfortable skipping class to protest federal law enforcement, that did not come from nowhere. That is culture built inside those walls.
We are raising kids to distrust law enforcement as a default, to see authority as oppression, and to respond to every media cycle with emotional activism. That is not critical thinking. That is conditioning.
And the future they are heading into, with AI, deepfakes, and nonstop information warfare, will demand more discernment than any generation has ever needed.
If we do not teach our kids how to spot manipulation, someone else will teach them what to believe.
Let’s be real about what set off these walkouts, because the story that’s being spoon-fed to kids and broadcast on every channel is not the full picture.
Here’s what they are not telling your kids:
The federal operation in Minnesota was tied to a massive fraud investigation, not some random ICE ambush — including allegations around Somali-run childcare and welfare programs that allegedly siphoned off hundreds of millions of federal dollars.
That is what initially prompted a big federal presence in Minneapolis, not a sudden rise in “cruel deportations” that magically only started this week.Local activists in Minnesota have had protest infrastructure on standby since the 2020 George Floyd era, with networks, leaders, and organizers ready to pivot to the next cause. Kids don’t just spontaneously decide to walk out all over the country because of an Instagram clip. They get pulled into protest narratives that are amplified by national organizers who know exactly how to trigger emotion.
The so-called “national blackout” of school and work wasn’t organic. It was organized and coordinated by student groups from the University of Minnesota and allied organizations across cities and campuses, complete with calls for walkouts, consumer boycotts, and synchronized protest actions.
The outrage machine got fuel from viral videos, celebrity endorsements, and media framing that turned tragedy into political theatre.
In other words, what started with a federal fraud and enforcement operation (and two tragic deaths that should have never happened if this LYING manipulative machine didn’t indoctrinate them) turned into a politically engineered nationwide protest moment — and school walkouts are the icing on the propaganda cake.
This is not “kids spontaneously caring about justice.” It is narrative engineering 101.
Kids get marketed a simplified emotional meme:
“ICE = evil. Trump = cruelty. Protest = righteousness.”
That’s it. That’s all they see.
They don’t see:
What prompted the federal surge in the first place
That Minnesota’s fraud scandals have been documented for months
That the raw numbers of deportations don’t back up the outrage in other states
That national organizers and student coalitions coordinated the very tactics ringing school bells today
And the scariest part?
We are letting our children be the foot soldiers in a spectacle they barely understand.
This is not new. Communist and socialist movements historically invested heavily in youth organizations, education systems, and cultural channels. Groups like the Soviet Komsomol and Mao’s Red Guards mobilized young people as engines of social transformation, often framing rebellion against existing structures as moral duty. Control the youth, and you shape the future society. That is not conspiracy. That is documented political strategy.
Young people are ideal targets. They are idealistic. They want meaning. They want to be on the “right side.” That energy can be used for good, or it can be steered by whoever controls the story.
Right now, the story being fed to them is simple: orange man bad, law enforcement equals oppression, borders equal cruelty, and protest equals virtue.
It is a powerful emotional formula. It is also dangerously incomplete.
Our job as parents is not to make our kids cynical. It is to make them discerning.
There are laws in this country. There is a Constitution. There is a legal immigration system. There are criminals who harm communities. There are victims of trafficking and violence. This is complicated. It cannot be reduced to signs and chants.
When kids are encouraged to walk out over a narrative they barely understand, we are not teaching them courage. We are teaching them to react before they think.
That is a habit that will follow them into adulthood, voting booths, workplaces, and families.
And in a world where information can be manipulated at scale, emotional reflex without discernment is a liability.
During COVID, moms stood up. They said no to things that felt wrong for their kids. Like giving them dangerous, untested, vaccines for a virus that wasn’t dangerous. Or strapping filthy masks on their faces that had ZERO scientific basis. They pulled them out, spoke at school boards, and took heat for it. I personally received death threats just for going to school board meetings and sharing on my social media the evidence and scientific research I had found.
This is another one of those moments.
You do not have to scream at a protest. You do not have to put yourself in danger. But you do have to take responsibility for what is shaping your child’s mind.
If your kid is walking out today because “ICE is evil” and they cannot explain immigration law, deportation statistics, or the difference between legal and illegal entry, that is not activism. That is indoctrination.
We cannot keep outsourcing our kids’ worldview to institutions that increasingly see parents as obstacles, not partners.
The government does not love your child more than you do. Political movements do not care about your child’s long term well being more than you do. Media cycles do not care about their character, discipline, or critical thinking.
That is your job.
And if we are not willing to stand up for our kids, homeschool them when necessary, and teach them how to think critically, then we should not be shocked when they grow up believing whatever the loudest voice tells them next.
They want your kids in the streets, angry and emotional.
I want mine at the table, learning how to see through the noise.
Choose your side.
