Last night it was already breezy enough for a light denim jacket (at least where I was), so it feels like fall-outerwear excitement isn't too far away. I’m kicking off this list with a fun, bubble-hem number from Zara, with a buttoned funnel neck and drawstring hem in a sweet gingham. It looks great with the tee and jeans, but it could also really work with something a little more office-appropriate—keep the tee, swap out the jeans and add a pencil skirt and heels.
Gap’s army jacket looks like the real deal and has a flattering, cinchable waist and good pockets (also great with a skirt and heels!).
Cos is calling this one a cropped trench, but I’m getting more classic ‘70s-’80s menswear vibes in the best possible way.
I’ve been stalking 6397’s perfectly faded cotton pea coat ever since I tried it on at the showroom—it looks like the most incredible vintage find, and also comes in a weathered military green and a “blonde” one that’s on sale (it runs big, so size down).
The lighter green, oversized, exaggerated shape and slightly dramatic high neck make this &Other Stories one more fashion, less surplus store (handy pockets, too).
Veronica Beard’s Bubble Jacket could stand in for a blazer, and the double zipper is everything!
Swooning over this Rachel Comey utility jacket in a rich, vibrant denim, which tells a more grown-up story than your standard trucker variety.
I love how Mango’s hacked-off plaid trench has all the proportions of a long one (i.e., they didn’t make the whole thing skimpy, which wouldn’t have been as cool). It’s so good tied around the waist, but you can also wear it loose with the belt knotted in the back.
And here’s one that’s perfect for rain, but I would wear it with nary a cloud in sight!
And, finally, Sezane’s version of a denim jacket—or is it their version of a barn jacket?—either way, I give it a thumbs up.
