Flirting with Fall

I felt like playing around with some of my next-season pieces to see how I could wear them best for that transitional period when you’re over summer dressing, but it’s not quite fall. Here are my new plaid pants from Sanctuary (CODE: ANDREA15 on everything) that pull on like sweats but have the vibe of a nice trouser—and I'm including these simple, cool black pants and these striped jeans as other options if plaid feels like too much from your waist to your toes. I like them dressed down with my vintage men’s Air Force shirt, not unlike this one, or this new Levi’s one, and I never mind if a peek of lace shows when I have it unbuttoned. The Zara gold slingbacks take it somewhere a little more glam, but I would do these or these, too.

My Soeur knotted jersey skirt (now on sale) is the perfect in-between piece because you can wear it easily with a simple tank or tee now (CODE: ANDREALINETT15), then throw on a thin sweater later (love my soft-as-butter red one with it (CODE: ANDREAL10 on La Ligne), but a good chocolate brown would create a sort-of-dress effect—CODE: ANDREALINETT15). Those are my Scarosso slingbacks that I also love with all kinds of jeans and army pants (CODE: ANDREA20 on the whole Scarosso site). I think these woolly Birks and cashmere socks would be pretty darn cute with it when the temperature drops, too.

More plaid, because fall! I would wear this blazer with so much (CODE: ANDREA10), but today I’m doing it with cropped Mango pants—here’s another brown option in a slim cut—an old men’s Uniqlo shirt, and a belt I scored from Edith Machinist, but look at this one! I’ve also dusted off my good old Tecovas because I love them so (no longer available, but dare I say these are even better), and here’s the kind of fancy-but-quietly-luxe bag that makes everything feel just a little more grown-up.

I got this gorge, ruby-red silk Zadig dress to keep on deck because most of the ones I have are black, and sometimes that just won’t work for the event (but if black is what you’re after, this is so sweet and pretty with a touch of ‘90s grunge, and of course, this, my go-to for most occasions, fancy and not). I usually like knee-high boots when I’m doing a dress, and my Nomaseis are absolutely perfect with every single one of them (skirts—especially denim—too).

And here I’m wearing the long-neglected fringe jacket that I got at Mango a hundred seasons ago, and it suddenly feels right and less costumey (to me, anyway). The good news is there are so many great options out there like this shrunken one, this very Easy Rider-y style from Free People, a wow wow wow one from Nili Lotan, and a leather version by Ralph. And if fringe really doesn’t speak to you, I’m throwing in this one that reminds me of the vintage suede jacket that I wore to death in college, a plain trench (CODE: ANDREA10), and this slick ‘80s number. I threw it over my new favorite 4Objects piece because the saturated color and softness make me so happy (and you can get it in 3/4, long sleeves, or a tank). The white jeans are old A.P.C.—(sale here), but you can always do classic 501s, and I’m kind of flipping over this cool shape, and could these really repel stains?? And here are the Gucci loafers without the ribbon —here’s the unisex version like mine, and I'm doing internal somersaults over the green (all of them comfy and worth every penny IMO).
