Hello Friends ◡̈
This November, I am deeply honored to take Love Letter from the Afterlife, the multimedia show built around Andrea Gibson’s final filmed live performance, on the road to fourteen cities across the United States and Canada.
The sold-out world premiere at Red Rocks was not only a success. It was a bit of a miracle.
When I began creating the show, I hoped it might offer people who never had the good fortune to see Andrea perform live the greatest consolation prize I could possibly create: something as close to the real thing as possible.
But at Red Rocks, ten thousand of us arrived believing we had come to remember Andrea. By the end of the night, it felt as though we had heard from them directly.
Perhaps Andrea was right all along:
“I am more here than I ever was before.”
At the heart of each evening on the tour is the film of Andrea’s final show. In it, Andrea is at the absolute height of their powers: brilliant, hilarious, tender, raucous, and so intensely present that an entire theater feels personally addressed.
Blake Neely’s score will be performed live by the Goosebump Orchestra or a local symphony, including the Chicago Philharmonic. There will also be live poetry, music, extremely special guests, and stories I cannot wait to share with you.
Part concert, part cinema, part communal celebration, and part gathering place for grief, the tour is an invitation to experience Andrea’s work the way it has always been meant to be experienced: together.
