Dementia Took My Dad and Also Brought Him Back

Hey Story Lovers,

My dad is teaching me so much. Turns out he always has, but I didn’t notice growing up. Instead, I always wanted more of his attention. And now he has dementia.

But here’s the thing: He knows he can’t remember stuff and he’s chill about it. He laughs a lot and now he wants to talk. When I see him, I tell him I’m playing tennis again. He is a great athlete and wants to know everything. Every time it’s the same, but I love this conversation.

I wrote a story about it that came out in HuffPost today.
