Hey Story Lovers,
A few months ago, I asked you for stories about what made you who you are politically. My idea was a live storytelling series called All Sides of the Story, where people tell PERSONAL stories on a theme, from all sides of the political spectrum. I got a range of responses including some fierce pushback about creating shows like this at all. “Why give people a platform?” “No one wants to hear stories about politics” “This could be dangerous.”
I thought: Wow, if people were reacting this strongly, maybe I was onto something. Also, the more I read the news and the more I encountered people with different points of view, the more I felt angry and frankly, sad. If anyone needs to understand all sides of the political story, it’s me. I also realized that to pull off shows like this, I needed support. So I partnered up with Matthew Anderson of Mosaic Miami. Their mission is huge and also simple: Connect diverse voices to build one Miami.
All Sides of the Story is ON.
Matt and I invite YOU—people from every background, generation, faith, culture, profession, and political persuasion to put your story in the ring to be considered for Red, Gray, and Blue, a live show exploring the moments that shape who we are politically.
Because, behind every political belief is a deeply personal story.
Eight participants will be selected. Together, we’ll develop our stories in workshops and share them in a live performance December 3, 2026.
Selected participants must commit to five in-person workshops, where we’ll write our stories together. We’ll give and receive feedback and support each other in creating honest, self-reflective stories. We’ll become one cast.
Because, I truly believe you can’t hate someone if you know their story.
To apply answer this question in one or two paragraphs: What situation or moment made you who you are politically?
Did the Cuban government confiscate your family’s business? Did you or anyone you love survive the Holocaust? Did you need an abortion and get denied? Tell us how that experience shaped you.
No writing or public speaking experience necessary. You must be in Miami to participate because I’m going back to what I love and what I think works best for creating connection—live and local storytelling.
