I don’t talk much about life behind the curtain. My husband and I just made our seventh move in 16 months. Ongoing disruption to our lives and not having a permanent home have put me behind on everything.
I wanted to create other, country/region specific Substack vectors.
I wanted to write in Spanish.
I wanted to do more LIVEs.
I wanted to move my Substack to my own host and offer subscribers the option of non-US-based access and payment.
It’s hard to do any of those things well (or at all) when I have been moving like a bag lady every couple of months.
So I was elated to obtain a foreign drivers license this week. Which was also a months-long telenovela, but I’ll spare you the drama and celebrate that I finally got the thing!
We also went to a concert. The orchestra performed the Queen Symphony. Yes, it was a symphonic concert of Queen’s music.
Because our lives have been so disrupted, I haven’t made time for culture and creativity like I usually do. This experience reminded me why human creation matters. It’s a kind of magic that feeds our very essences. We have to make time for it, even if it means stepping back and giving ourselves space when necessary.
