10-20 Years Ago, Information Publishers Were Taking The Piss…

Andi Leeman · The World According To...

When I first started out in this industry, I began working for a very successful information publisher who used direct marketing techniques (mailing one page letters) to send people to websites where they would read a long form sales letter and buy premium priced products.

There was usually a product funnel which would lead to a two day seminar which would cost between £10,000 and £14,000.

There would often be a monthly ‘support’ package which cost somewhere between £89 and £119 per month.

I kid you not.

Support was nothing more than being able to ask questions via a support desk!

There was no one-to-one face-to-face talking over zoom.

And yet those who paid over £10,000 to attend the seminar who decided they needed support had to pay an additional £1,068 per year or more just to be able to ask a few questions.

My then boss made millions each year… and you can see why!

I often struggled with some of the prices that he charged for his products.

A lot of people were ‘priced’ out before they could even get started.

One product which was a two day seminar with ongoing monthly support was so costly that people would struggle to actually make money from the thing they were learning.

By the time they had paid out for the seminar and the ongoing monthly support, they would be left with no money to actually use in whatever it was they were learning to do.

It was ridiculous at times.

I remember one guy had travelled all the way from Japan so that he could learn how to have a successful online business only to be taught stuff he could have potentially found on YouTube for free.

He most certainly could have learned it online in Japan for a fraction of the cost.

That one seminar was ‘cobbled’ together from an idea and was the first seminar I attended as one of the staff.

This was a dream job to me, I had always wanted to be a part of the information publishing industry.

Before taking this job I was working as a carpenter in dusty noisy workshops, and printing T-shirts at home on weekends and evenings which I sold on eBay.

I had moved 200 miles and left my good wife behind for this job (she joined me later) and had only just started, but as I sat at the back of that first seminar listening to what was being taught knowing how much the people attending had paid, I was very tempted to quit and go back home.

It was embarrassingly bad.

I remember another guy was so desperate to make money to pay off large debts, he used money he couldn’t afford to attend one of our seminars.

I believe it was one that was teaching people how to use Facebook adverts to quickly build Facebook pages and to make money promoting crappy CPA offers to the people who followed those pages.

The CPA offers paid commissions whenever someone signed up.

This was another bad product.

As part of the team I was asked to test the method out and it wasn’t as great as we had been told.

Despite my objections and opinions, my boss still went ahead and ran a series of seminars generating himself another million pounds or two.

The guy wanting the refund had pinned his hopes on learning how to make a fortune on Facebook only to find that it would take time to get to grips with, and would not deliver a fortune overnight.

He came to the back of the room at 4pm on the first day to ask for his money back.

The poor fella was shaking from stress and desperation.

My boss at the time would offer a ‘no questions asked full money refund’ if people came and asked for it by 4pm on the first day…

…but knowing that most people in a crowded room follow herd mentality and hate to be seen getting up and heading to the back of the room and then overheard asking for their money back…

…he would either call for a break at 4 o’clock or simply carry on talking until 5 o’clock and then call it the end of the day.

Calling for a break often distracted people’s thinking and so they forgot that it was refund time.

Some people were confident enough to get up and ask for a refund, but I imagine many were too scared to get up or lost track of the time.

I imagine some were probably waiting for an announcement that if they wanted a refund they were to go to the back of the room.

That was never going to happen!

The boss did everything in his power to keep people in their seats and ignore the 4 o’clock deadline.

Here’s the thing..

Fortunately, those days are largely gone.

As more and more people get access to the internet and easy-to-use tools and platforms, there are more and more people selling information and help.

Before there were a handful of information publishers selling to thousands of people, now there are thousands of information publishers selling to that same audience.

With more and more people selling the same or similar information online for a lot less, this has largely killed off the expensive seminar sellers.

Why pay one person £14,000 to be taught how to do something and a further £1,068+ for a year’s support when you can learn it from someone else from the comfort of your own home for a fraction of the price… and possibly have the system built for you?

Over the years I have spent thousands of pounds to learn how to use the internet to make money.

As much as it would be good to sit in a room and charge £14K per person to show people what to do… I couldn’t do it if I tried!

It’s just far too much for far too little.

There’s being rewarded for your efforts and knowledge, and then there’s taking the piss… and that is what people like my boss did, regularly!

They took the piss with their pricing.

I am currently working on updating and restructuring my CPR System program to reflect the changes to how the internet is being used to make money and I am looking for partners.

There are various packages, but the most expensive is £2,997.

But unlike those seminars, you get direct access to me without any further monthly costs.

We talk face-to-face over zoom once a week for several months before going monthly.

I set up your website and email marketing platform, you get lifetime access to training where I show you everything I know and everything you need to know.

Plus you become an affiliate of the CPR System and so you can make money by promoting it.

You don’t have to, but you can.

If someone signs up to my full £2,997 package I will pay you £1,000.

Now, as I mentioned before, I am currently working on making a few updates and changes and so because of that, I am running a special promotion for the people who read this article.

The promotion runs out midnight (UK time) June 12th.

If you sign up within the next 8 days I will knock £1,997 off the full price.

Basically, the price will be £1,000.

That is a fair price.

PS. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at andi@andileeman.com and ask away.

If you want to jump on a quick 30 minute zoom call, that could also be arranged.

Even with the £1,997 discount it’s still a substantial amount of money, I understand that, and so I wouldn’t want to sell you something that wasn’t right for you.

I’m not one of those guys who sells seminars and takes your money whether it is right for you or not.
