july favorites and the list for august

this list is a little smaller than it usually is due to me traveling for a portion of the month (london and santorini guides coming soon <3) but wow, there are so many new spots opening in the city! so cool to see all of the businesses booming. let’s get into it!

gospel flat farm stand (bolinas) - I have definitely spoken about this space in the past, but gospel flat farm is a local farm stand / art space / and mini vintage shop bundled all into one. what a dream

double black / yardsale (cole valley) - from the team behind yardsale, double black has already made an impact on the sf coffee scene. the drinks are amazing and their giant gluten-free cookie is even BETTER; can’t wait to come back and work from this cafe <3 I went on a thursday around noon and there was absolutely no line at all (compared to the line that wraps around the block on the weekends). go check it out!!!!

side characters (polk) - new coffee shop on one of my favorite blocks in russian hill! vinyl playing in the background + yummy coffee all day long (turns into a cozy wine bar at night :)) - check their IG for more info

viana velvet (marina) - okay I am no stranger to the russian manicure scene in the city, and this might be the best one I’ve gotten. I got my manicure a month ago and it still has not chipped at ALL <3 will be returning whenever these nails decide to chip lol

kope house (hayes valley) - new cutie coffee shop in hayes valley, I had a great latte and really want to go back and try their matcha!!! great vibe from the baristas and a great spot to pick up a coffee and explore the neighborhood

stray dog (mission) - “coffee shop by day, cocktail bar by night” - their menu looks amazing. ig linked here

adan cafe (tenderloin) - newly opened yemeni cafe that has fresh pastries and milky baklava (drooling). ig linked here

cowrie collective (downtown) - “new shop that highlights six Black women-owned fashion, beauty, wellness, and home brands” absolutely cannot WAIT to stop by! gorgeous little space on market. ig linked here

iggy’s burger (castro) - a healdsburg favorite made its way down to the castro!!! smash burgers, fries, and milkshakes…. what else could a girl need? ig linked here

saam (SOMA) - new thai restaurant from celebrity chef, thitid “ton” tassanakajohn! if anyone goes please let me know what you think, this one is high up on my list. ig linked here

welcome coffee & goods (parkside) - new coffee shop and vintage store on taraval! ig linked here

demain (mission) - new concept store home to unique independent brands (with an emphasis on ukrainian makers!) ig linked here

treasures of the pharaohs exhibit (de young museum) - so if anyone else had a weird hyper fixation on egypt when they were younger, this one’s for us. exhibit open from august 1st - jan 31st! can’t wait. more info linked here

le mil’s (polk) - san francisco’s only indian specialty coffee shop! opening august 15. ig linked here

tori beer (laurel heights) - sister store to the famous bubu, japanese izakaya in laurel heights / inner richmond (udon + sushi)! people are raving about the duck carbonara (bruh) ig linked here

golden focaccia (nob hill) - the new sf sandwich shop that you will crave on a sunny day. ig linked here

golden yak (polk) - tucked away on polk street; “authentic nepali-indian fusion crafted by a women-led family since 2016” IKTR. menu linked here

marina beach (marina) - the marina’s newest date night spot; great wine list + Indian-inspired cuisine. just looks so cute inside too. menu linked here

soon and soon (chinatown) - souvenir shop reopening soon, created by team behind mister jiu’s + moongate! returning with a cafe concept that includes everyone’s favorite: paper son coffee (yay <3)

pang (sunset) - new chinese restaurant!!! love to see the inner sunset booming :) ig linked here

sushi daisuki (castro) - new sushi spot on church st. menu linked here

maison nico (transamerica pyramid) - the french bakery’s second location, perfect for that croissant on the way to work. ig linked here

makeup by mario bronzer - okay, as a very acne-prone girly, I really never reach for a cream bronzer. but this one is purely a 10/10 - looks so nice on the skin and has not broken me out at ALL. linked here

yesteryear by caro claire burke - not sure if this should go in my favorites since it has already been two weeks since I read this and I still am not 100% sure how I feel about it… the book itself was so well-written, I just hated the protagonist. but, I guess the best books are the ones that evoke some sort of feeling in you! it’s a great satire

sourcing vintage on eBay - OK so one of my uniforms I wear for work is just a vintage ralph lauren button down + a pair of jeans + flats. everyone always asks me where I get these shirts and they are quite literally $15 dollars on eBay!!!!! just search “ralph lauren denim shirt mens medium” and thousands of options will pop up for you, do not underestimate eBay for anything vintage (workout clothes, sweaters, cameras especially)

layered long sleeves - breaking news, I layered two shirts. I hope you can sense my sarcasm through the screen. but, this was pretty cute HAHA but they’re such good basics by themselves too - linked here
