Easy Like Sunday Morning

Good morning! It’s another Sunday, the days are getting longer and we’re one week closer to a bit more warmth and sunny weather! I bought some daffodils this week - they always cheer me up as a sign that the long grey days are coming to an end!

It’s been another quiet week here; a bit of house progress and some dog walks, mainly. I have learnt what a ‘mist coat’ is and have done that to the fresh dried plaster after the damp proofing we had done at the end of last year. I’ve also primed the new skirting boards ready to paint. All very exciting.

This week we went to Kanto - a Filipino/Korean bakery in Cambridge. I tried the kalamansi cinnamon bun and ube pandesal and they were both super tasty! So soft!

In terms of things I made at home - I wanted to recommend this Nutella Mousse by Nadiya Hussain. It doesn’t look like much, but it’s one of my favourite desserts and it’s SO easy to make (I suppose with the caveat that you need some kind of electric mixer/whisk).

I also regularly make ramen ‘with stuff’ inspired by this recipe as a quick easy working-from-home lunch. This week I had some carrots and edamame beans lying around to add in, as well as some garlic and ginger (clearly I was feeling energetic) and then a fried egg, some crispy onions, sesame oil and sriracha on top!

I finished a new piece this week! This was inspired by another childhood memory - I used to love exploring my grandparents’ garden and collecting bugs in my bug jar. They had a huge buddleia bush full of butterflies but I don’t think I ever caught one!

I’m feeling really happy with how this one came out; it feels like it’s my own voice and style which is what I’ve been really trying to focus on developing.

• I’ve been playing Tiny Bookshop - it’s a game where you run a small second hand bookshop and make book recommendations to customers! It’s the perfect game to tune out and relax with, and they’re all real books so I’m actually getting book recommendations myself! As I play more I’m uncovering a really sweet story and characters too - I really recommend it if you like cosy games!
