Week of June 14 - June 20
I did a bad job of taking photos this week HOWEVER I also got to wear something I made for the first time so my excitement at that outweighs my annoyance at not getting many photos.
Sunday
I went to an outdoor concert and was really hot when I left my apartment, so I was like, fuck the second layer, for it is summer in Los Angeles and I am delicate. Of course as the sun started to set a breeze rolled in and I was chilly all night. Alas! I can’t tell you what my first layer was, only that I kept thinking of all the wonderful bomber jackets and cardigans in my home and not on my body.
I would love to tell you I won’t make this mistake again, but I might! I am notoriously bad at being hot and assuming I will feel hot forever.
Monday
I’m back with my not-fave black skirt! The good news is my new black skirt from Tuesday of California arrived, so I will have that at my disposal. The thing is, though, that this skirt that I don’t love as much is a little shinier-slash-therefore-dressier so I will be keeping it in my lineup for the foreseeable future.
THE BIG NEWS IS I made this top in a class! I am so psyched to have made a garment and am looking forward to making more. PERHAPS EVEN THE PERFECT BLACK SKIRT at some point.
Tuesday
Button-up from Androgynous Fox, Nooworks skirt, beloved AF1s. The bolo is from Tiny Deer Studio!
It’s hard to tell from this photo but I did get new glasses, because I didn’t have a clear pair, and I loved the clear/gold Waylun from Dita (of course). Obviously I Made An Offer on eBay after hunting them for awhile.
Wednesday
OK there are SOME good things about warmer weather, like wearing the lighter-weight brighter dresses I have that just don’t FEEL RIGHT during colder months, even when I layer. This was the first Nooworks dress I ever bought, many years ago.
I’m wearing AF1s I don’t wear a ton, because I didn’t realize when I ordered them that they are canvas and not leather, and I’m always worried about them getting dingey (I did scotchguard them but stuff still happens), but let me tell you, a pair of AF1s that isn’t worn down IS SO COMFORTABLE and I was obsessed with the level of support these provided all day and now I’m like, oh god, what else have I been living with that was slowly ground down from something good????
Thursday
I forgot to take a full-length photo, but at one point I forgot what pair of glasses I was wearing and instead of looking in a mirror or just taking them off to look at them, I checked by taking a photo??? Anyway. I wore this. It’s lightweight and linen but the colors don’t feel summery and this will probably stay in my closet until September or so. Fashion and seasons can be weird when you live somewhere with a climate that doesn’t vary as much.
I will say I don’t wear these glasses (from Valley Eyewear) a ton but I love them and need to rotate them in more!
Friday
I worked from home because I got a new mattress! I forgot to take a photo of my home outfit or the dress I wore to moderate a pal’s event, so to apologize, here is a photo of the cats on the mattress. (They like it, and they also like that thanks to eBay I was able to replace my old Opalhouse by Jungalow (or is it Jungalow by Opalhouse) velvet comforter we had before. I think cats love velvet? Because cats are witchy.)
Saturday
Not only did my dog run into the frame, my cat flipped his tail in front of the lens. It’s fine! You can tell how invested I was in getting a good shot of this standard Nooworks and HOKA by Marni outfit (not very).
If you can’t tell — I am psyched about making more garments. Next up is a maxi-skirt in a print I am OBSESSED with. More, hopefully SOON!!
