New spiral handwriting artworks!

I have a couple of announcements!

First, excitingly, I have just released a small number of handwriting spiral plotter artworks on my website.

These plots are each completely unique artworks. They feature my “Meaningful Nonsense” text which is generated in JavaScript, and drawn in my hand-coded handwriting by my Axidraw plotter, in a spiral ꩜

Second exciting thing - In September I’ll be taking part in Responsive Dreams, a digital arts festival in Barcelona. There is a great line up of artists showing work, speaking on panels and giving talks.

I will be speaking and showing a new artwork, which I’m working on currently!

Of course a lot of this week was spent creating the spiral handwriting plots!

I love how this plotter-in-progress shot shows the difference between two layers of white ink (on the outer rings) and one layer (on the inner rings).

That piece is one of the ones available in my shop!

I’ve begun work on my piece for the exhibition in Barcelona, which will be interactive. My idea is that the viewer will be able to choose some of the words that are used in the generated text, to produce collaborative poems (that will be woven through a visual piece).

I’ve created a test version of this, where each sentence takes one word from the sentence before.

Still a work in progress but this will be my main art focus for the next month and I’m excited to see it unfold!
