Hi Midlifers!
How are you? Can you believe it’s nearing the end of July already?
I am leaving for my birthday odyssey in less than a week and — GAH — I’ve got so much to do! Taking two weeks off at my company is the equivalent of going on sabbatical and there is a lot of aligning I need to do before my departure.
And then there’s the packing part, because while I’m not “camping” for a week, I do like to bring along a number of non-negotiable items to make the one-room cabin a little cozier. Like: all my bedding (sheets, duvet, four pillows). A small coffee maker I bought to supplement the french press the cabin offers (and whose recipe I spent a week trying to figure out the first time I stayed there). Then of course, I need a beach chair, a mini tabletop firepit for sitting out on the deck at night overlooking the ocean. I’ll need bug spray, suntan lotion, tons of books, writing material/inspiration.
[TEAM: here’s where I reached for the cord resting on my nightstand to charge my dying laptop and knocked my coffee cup over — spilling the dregs across the top and dripping steadily onto the piles of books below. My poor little nightly gratitude notebook is really going through it.]
