Fun-A-Day-LA turns 10!!!

In 2014 I entered Fun A Day Reseda. Being an artist from the east coast I had already heard of Fun A Day and was excited to locate one in my new home of Los Angeles. The show was fantastic and fun. I made lots of new friends. Some I am still in touch with and have participated in multiple shows with since then. In 2015 and 2016 I went to the openings but did not enter the show.

For 2017 I was ready to enter the Reseda show when I had a lightbulb moment. Why not start my own? {insert history of the original Fun A Day show which started in Philadelphia for those who don’t know - click the words to read about them on their wiki page.}

So that is what I did. Starting in 2016 I promoted the show for 2017. Because putting together community shows is super fun, but you need to start early. I always start in July. But for our 10th year I actually started planning in 2024. Okay, many factors got in the way and the grand ideas may or may not all come together. But those can be saved for year 20! OMG do you think I can make it happen? Would you join in?

Anyways, registration for the 2026 show is live. I hope you join. I hope you tell everyone, and invite them to join. This truly is an all ages show. And all kinds of art are included. Every single year there are multiple people who join who have never ever shown their art in an art show of any kind. It really is amazing and lights up everyone’s face with a smile.

The joy. The friendships. The conversations. The commiserations. The hugs. The ideas. The spark. These are a few of the reasons this show is so popular and I am encouraged to do it every year. We have many people who are in every show. They start planning and making the year before. The memories are another reason people participate. We love discussing the new techniques we shared with each other. We love hearing the reasons people chose the projects they did. We laugh and dance and sing and celebrate the bright side of life. Nothing stops the fun. Not even a lockdown. Did you look at the huge amount of art we created at our largest and international show in 2021? It’s still online. Go look now.

So as I said, I hope you join in the fun. Being an artist is NOT a requirement. Being a human might also not be required, but you will need a human to fill out the form.

Fun-A-Day-LA Now TEN years old!!!! Join us in the celebration of reaching double digits!!

The idea is beautifully simple: choose a creative adventure—📸 capture a photo, 🧼 whip up soap, ✏️ sketch a moment, 🍰 bake something sweet, 🎴 paint a tarot card, 🧶 knit tiny blankets for tiny paws, 🎲 design a board game, 💍 craft jewelry or clothing, ✊ make protest art, 📝 write poetry, 💃 create a dance, 🎶 compose a song… whatever makes you smile.

Create at your own rhythm throughout January, then ✨ unveil your magic ✨ in February at our all-ages, all-inclusive community show!

Working on a project once a day in January is one great way to participate in this show, but feel free to create in your own time and at your own pace if you prefer. We would love to see whatever you’d like to share!

This show is free to submit and attend, and is non juried. There will be meetups in January and February with prompts for art making and community art canvases that everyone is encouraged to add paint to! You can work on your art, meet others and help spread the word about the show.
