Art Show and Cabaret

This Sunday, May 3rd I will be hosting a workshop at a Kids Art Show and Cabaret at The Jewel Box Children’s Theater. Join in a participatory art project where we will focus on bicycle safety by creating accessories for visibility. The project is about promoting bicycle safety for youth which is a soft introduction of my new project. The project entails all ages and is a community-based art and advocacy program that uses creative expression to promote safer, slower, and more joyful ways of moving through Long Beach.

Friday is May 1st and the first day of National Bike Month. Expect bicycle related art and bike rides. Check out LBC bike rides, Car-Lite and Bike Long Beach calendars for more ride information. Hope to see you on a ride. The more people riding bicycles the safer the roadways become.

• Advocate for Infrastructure:

  • Contact Officials: Write to your city council to support protected bike lanes and more bike parking.

  • Attend Meetings: Show up to public planning meetings to ensure cycling needs are included in new road projects.

• Encourage Local Businesses: Ask your favorite shops to install bike racks or offer discounts to customers who arrive by bike.
